Remarks

the management and especially the office workers can be a bit frustrating but that is the case everywhere, I suppose. the management could be better and more concerned about the welfare of the students and teachers but that is not the case.

Entrance Preview

I wrote the CATE ( Common Aptitude Test for English) exam to qualify for DU English. I had always wanted to pursue literature for my undergrad and KMC boasts an incredible faculty for the department.

Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

one of the best aspects of the DU English curriculum is that it is very expansive and includes a lot of texts which ought to be taught and read by literature enthusiasts. the texts are bifurcated very evenly with national and international writers given equal significance. classical and modern texts are taught evenly and according to their respective time periods. overall, as long as UGC does not do something impulsive, the course is a good one.

Internships Opportunities

The college did provide an option for internships which presumably included major IT and corporate companies. however, I was not a part of the internship process.

Placement Experience

2.5

as mentioned earlier, I wasn't very involved with the placement cell. however, the college has a huge and influential group of alumni who give the college its due credit. there have been a lot of students who went on to well-paying jobs with companies and the government.

College Events

4

The college is known for its many extracurricular and co-curricular activities which take place throughout the year. apart from the college fest which is a huge affair in the campus, there are all sorts of department fests and competitions organised by societies.

Fee Structure And Facilities

The college is a government aided college hence the fee structure is very compatible. the college also provides fee concession for the students who need them, thus enabling all qualified people to study and make full use of the facilities provided by the college.

Fees and Financial Aid

Like most government colleges, the college offers scholarships for a lot of meritorious students. the students who identify as poor also get scholarships based on their need. I am not well aware of the scholarships and loans but since it is a government college, it has to follow UGC standards and regulations and offer scholarships to students.

Campus Life

4

Campus life is pleasant and involves meeting a lot of people from all over the country. Delhi University North Campus can be a very enlightening experience or a completely opposite one, depending on the student. there are a lot of talks and seminars on crucial things like gender and sexual politics. the societies of the college were amongst the best collegiate societies in the country and thus the level of competition was quite high. overall, a unique experience.

Hostel Facilities

2.5

The hostel is spacious with two students per room. Although the food was subpar, the hostel itself had amenities like a gym, WiFi amongst others. however, there isn't enough space to provide accommodation to everyone and there is no girls' hostel in the college. there are a lot of PGs and rooms available for students in campus but they are not pocket-friendly at all.

Alumni/Alumna

the college has many noted alumni including politicians and actors. most of them are quite grateful to the college and maintain regular contact. the senior students too were very helpful and caring. ragging was never an issue in the college premises.

Exam Structure

The college is/was very laid out and although the classes were regular, the students rarely felt any sort of academic pressure. the exams were well timed and although the semester system had us rushing in between exams, it was a steady, laid back sort of an affair.

Admission

The exam form was all online and soon after submission, the dates for the entrance were released. After clearing the exam, I had a choice between Hindu college and KMC. I chose the latter because of the excellent faculty. the administration and management were helpful and student friendly. DU admissions are generally a messy thing which makes sense since it is a massive turn out but it was a rather easy sail for me.

Faculty

4.5

The main reason I chose KMC over other colleges is the faculty. the teachers are all very well read and have a lot of teaching experience. apart from academia, they are all very student friendly and provide the sort of intellectual atmosphere that one seeks in a good college.

The course curriculum is a bit too theoretical and less practical. The exams in the college takes places every month which are seasonals and are for internal marking and then we have semester exams in every 6 months which accounts for the external marking.

Placement Experience:

Placements are available in college, the drive is quite extensive, everyone is made aware of the choices and options and counselling is present too. It is from the third year, students are eligible to apply for placements. Companies and organisations take part such as Niti ayog, Times, Geostrata, Prajatantra foundation, etc. Those who desire usually work on their CVs, keep on doi internships and then get a placement. The packages are not that impressive to be honest.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course is really very interesting. It keeps up with our expectations. Involves both practical and theoretical aspects to make sure that we are able to face the real world. Also, with the help of the guidance that we get from teachers we're able to ace both the aspects. The examinations also are based on applications, thus, helping us to enhance ourselves in all possibilities.

I got a seat in Ramjas College. It is a north-campus college. The infrastructure is too good compared to the remaining colleges. The teaching also going well but I faced some language problems. I'm from south India so I don't understand Hindi properly. But here mostly they teach in Hindi only and English is used very rarely.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course itself is prestigious and is mostly opted for by people who plan either on preparing for the Civil Services or those who want to pursue academia. The course structure is framed in a manner that you don't just simply study history there, but you ingrain a critical viewpoint of a young historian. The faculty of History Hons. has some of the best Professors in the University, although you will in any course at any college find some teachers below your expectations, you don't have to bear them for more than 1 or 2 semesters. Passing the exams is not very difficult, but yes scoring above average is. If you get a GPA ranging from 6 to 7, you've performed fine. Above that is considered a Very good performance in Hons. courses of Social sciences at Delhi University. there are semester exams every 5- 6 months
