National Institute of Technology (NITP) Patna B.tech. course review

For admission to B.Tech. Course, one must have qualified for the JEE (Joint Entrance Examination) - Mains. The eligibility of the course is to clear the cutoff in JEE Mains based on your category (if any). After clearing the examination, we need to go through the counselling process done by JOSAA (Joint Seat Allocation Authority), India. Based on our rank scored in JEE Mains, the college and branch are allocated as per our preference. If we could not get any seats through JOSAA, we can also go through CSAB counselling for vacant seats. I was from the OBC category, so I availed the reservation benefits. The course has 27% of seats reserved for OBC students. From my point of view, I think that the whole admission process is good enough and there are no limitations to it.

The course curriculum and faculty members are very good here. The course curriculum is completely designed as per the NEP (New Education Policy). I opted for B.Tech. in Computer Science and Engineering because I have a keen interest in software development and I want to learn new skills in the various technical domains. Talking about the faculty: student ratio, it's fair here, i.e. 1:60. The faculty here are well qualified and based on their qualification they are assigned to different batches and subjects. They use both board and presentation for teaching and make the students well-equipped with the study materials. After the end of each semester, a feedback form submission is required, where you can grade each faculty on various aspects of teaching. Each semester, two exams happen one mid-semester and another end-semester examination a duration of 2.5 months each (approx). The exams are not difficult to pass, it is very easy to score high marks if we focus on the things taught.

Many companies like Amazon. Atlassian, Adobe, and IBM come for on-campus internships. However, every student doesn't get an internship, but many are able to make it. The stipend that most of the companies offer ranges from 40 thousand to 1.6 lakhs.

The students are eligible for placement in the 4th year of their course. Many companies visit for on-campus recruitment, some of them are Amazon, Atlassian, HDFC bank, ICICI bank, Ifoedge, Ola, Paytm, phonpe, etc. Each year almost all students get placed. The placement statics are not too a good a few years ago, but in recent years they have improved a lot. The highest package for the year 2022 was 1.60 crore per annum, and the average package is 12.71 lakhs per annum. The placement percentage for last year(2022) was 100%.

If our family's annual income is more than 5 lacs, we have to pay Rs. 67,600 for each odd semester and Rs. 67,000 for each even semester (Rs. 62500 is the tuition fee for each semester). However, there is fee remission for lower family-income students. For students with family income between 1 to 5 lacs, they got 2/3rd remission on the tuition fee. while students with a family income below 1 lakh, get a 100% fee waived. besides this, the institute also provides a large number of scholarships offered by different governing bodies. Most of the students here get placed in very good companies.

The campus life here is also good, but there can be a lot of improvement in it. However, the senior-junior interaction is very strong here, they help a lot each other in solving problems and learning new skills. The annual & technical fest is corona and melange. It happens in the month of January. The institute's central library has more than 75,000 books and many journals. The classrooms are also well equipped with all the facilities. The classes are air-conditioned, and have a projector and presentation board, with 24x7 wi-fi facilities. Talking about the sports and extracurricular activities, the institute provides various facilities for sports like football, basketball, tennis, cricket, etc. we have access to the gym also. There are 10+ clubs in the college including technical as well as cultural clubs. Some of them are GDSC, IEEE, Hackslash, Natvansh, Techtonix, ASCE, Robotics club, etc.

The institute has 5 Hostels in total (4 for boys, and one for girls). The rooms are equipped with fans, lights, tables, chairs, beds and cupboards. However, other facilities students have to arrange by themselves. The food quality is average here. There is a lot of scope for improvement of the facilities. To avail of the hostel facility, we need to apply for the hostel after the completion of the admission process. The hostel is allotted fresh each year. But due to lesser accommodation capacity, the institute doesn't offer hostel facilities to students from nearby localities/cities.
