Remarks

The applicant should have completed his/her intermediate with above 55% of marks. From 2022 the application is through CUET (Common University Entrance Test). You can get the application form on the NTA (National Testing Agency) website when the application window opens. While applying for JNU, you can apply to other colleges too.

Course Curriculum Overview

4

I chose to study Spanish because of various carrier opportunities. Foreign languages are in good need in India. Opportunities like Translation, interpretation, tour guides, and Journalism are available if you study a foreign language. The centre for Spanish is known as CSPILAS(Centre for Spanish Portuguese Italian and Latin American Studies) with 9 professors. And there are three years of bachelor's students with a strength of 38-39 students in a class, and 2 batches of Master's students. There are also different batches of PhD scholars doing research under the professors. The faculties are well qualified and most of them have PhD in Spanish. There are 2 Full professors and 7 assistant Professors in the centre. You have to write 4 exams (3 sessionals and 1 end semester exam) in a semester and there will be 6 semesters in the bachelor's degree. You will be only allowed to write end semester if you pass 2 of the 3 sessionals and maintain a CGPA of 3 minimum.

Internships Opportunities

2.5

You can get internships in different MNCs as well as organizations like United Nations. United Nations calls for interns who have knowledge of foreign languages along with Indian languages and English. There are lots of translation internships available. There's also an option to go to Spain to do an internship as a teacher of English to Spanish school students. You will be paid around 700-1000€ per month. You just have to get a 7.5 score in IELTS.

Placement Experience

2

If you know the language well, just a bachelor's degree is needed to get placed. Companies like Amazon, YouTube, exentrix, SoundCloud, Google, etc. For Spanish, the package starts at around 500000 pa. Various other translation and interpretation jobs are also available if you have a degree in the Spanish language. But these days Placement in JNU is not going well.

Fees and Financial Aid

The tuition fee for every semester is around 150. But there's a charge of 1100 establishment charges and some other charges of 500 every semester in the hostels. And the mess bill in the hostels is around 3000 -3500 every month. The room rent is negligible. If you are doing Bachelor's in JNU, and if your income is below 2.5 lakhs you are eligible for Merit Cum Means (MCM) scholarship.

Campus Life

4

There's Kallol of the School of languages conducted by the JNU Students Union every year. It is an annual Sports and Arts fest. There's also another Movie fest of movies in various foreign languages every year. On campus, you can see lots of movie screenings by different organizations. JNU also conducts its annual sports meet. And there will be Cultural night, Fresher's day, and hostel night in every hostel which includes DJ parties and different cultural programs like dancing, poetry, and singing. You can see various discussions and debates in different dhabas and corners of the university and take part in every debate. JNU Library is one of the unique Libraries in India where you can get at least one copy of every book. JNU also gives free subscriptions to JSTOR to its students.

The course curriculum is a bit too theoretical and less practical. The exams in the college takes places every month which are seasonals and are for internal marking and then we have semester exams in every 6 months which accounts for the external marking.

Placement Experience:

Placements are available in college, the drive is quite extensive, everyone is made aware of the choices and options and counselling is present too. It is from the third year, students are eligible to apply for placements. Companies and organisations take part such as Niti ayog, Times, Geostrata, Prajatantra foundation, etc. Those who desire usually work on their CVs, keep on doi internships and then get a placement. The packages are not that impressive to be honest.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course is really very interesting. It keeps up with our expectations. Involves both practical and theoretical aspects to make sure that we are able to face the real world. Also, with the help of the guidance that we get from teachers we're able to ace both the aspects. The examinations also are based on applications, thus, helping us to enhance ourselves in all possibilities.

I got a seat in Ramjas College. It is a north-campus college. The infrastructure is too good compared to the remaining colleges. The teaching also going well but I faced some language problems. I'm from south India so I don't understand Hindi properly. But here mostly they teach in Hindi only and English is used very rarely.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course itself is prestigious and is mostly opted for by people who plan either on preparing for the Civil Services or those who want to pursue academia. The course structure is framed in a manner that you don't just simply study history there, but you ingrain a critical viewpoint of a young historian. The faculty of History Hons. has some of the best Professors in the University, although you will in any course at any college find some teachers below your expectations, you don't have to bear them for more than 1 or 2 semesters. Passing the exams is not very difficult, but yes scoring above average is. If you get a GPA ranging from 6 to 7, you've performed fine. Above that is considered a Very good performance in Hons. courses of Social sciences at Delhi University. there are semester exams every 5- 6 months
