IIT Guwahati Review

I chose this course because I was interested in learning advanced physics and an IIT is a good place to graduate from for various prospects. I looked through the course material and found it interesting as well. A student ratio is about 6:1 as you have a faculty advisor available from the first year. As your course progresses you are involved more closely with profs. Most of the professors have a Ph.D. from an IIT or IISc or any other reputed foreign university. They have a great reputation in the nation as well as globally. Teaching methods include classroom teaching, slides, and tutorials to solve questions. Term exams are held in November and May and if you are attentive enough in classes and revise well it is not very tough to pass. But the marking here is relative Grading so you must score higher in class for a good grade.

Internships are offered by the majority of big companies in each domain. The major ones are FAANGM in the IT sector. The procedure starts at the end of 2nd year of the 6th semester. The internships are done after 3rd year. And the stipends range from 7L to 40,000 based on the role and the companies. There is Coding Round initially followed by GD and interviews that can vary on the slots available.

Students are eligible to be placed after the 6th semester. Most of the major companies visit the college and make a good number of offers. Foreign offers are usually above 1cr and domestic packages are a bit less compared to them. IT companies are first to make offers followed by Automobile and Electronics. The highest Package is about 2.2 Cr offered in the role of Quant Analyst. The majority of high packages are provided for Software Engineer Roles by IT companies like FAANGM in India. The percent of students placed is nearly 96 to 98% of the students that register for the placement process. I will try to get placed as a software engineer in the placement.

The fee hasn't been hiked since a long student enrolled time. There is scholarship on needs as well as merit-based scholarship. You need to be in the top 2 of your batch to receive merit scholarships apart from that there are many external scholarships provided to IIT students from central government agencies and for students enrolled through reservations, there is a scholarship provided by the institute.

The annual Fest is Alcheringa which is one of the biggest fests in North East India. it happens in around February. Technical Fest is called Techniche which happens in October. They are a must to be looked out for. Books and journals are available in the library and can be issued with the help of an ID card. The library has books on every possible domain known to humans. The library is spacious and air-conditioned and open 24/7. The classes are modern with projectors smart classes and workstations in specific courses. The labs have modern equipment and are available to be used by the students. There is a sports complex for indoor sports and grounds for outdoor sports. There is ground for every major sport and there are coaches to help you learn. Internet sports meet is organized every year. Clubs are an integral part of student life here. There are a variety of technical and cultural clubs in the institute and you can create new ones if you feel like it.

This course has a cutoff of from 4000 to 6000 AIR in JEE Advanced Exam. You need to qualify for JEE Advanced with a 5000 rank to get this course. The courses can be selected in JoSAA counseling after the declaration of results. Application fees were about 35000 which was later adjusted with the fees.
