Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

The Chinese language is one of the most difficult languages to learn. Constant learning with interest will be the key to mastering the language. Completing the graduation in Chinese Honors from JNU will open up vast opportunities for you not only in India but abroad as well. There is a high demand for Chinese language experts in the world due to the emerging economy of China.

Fees and Financial Aid

There are two kinds of fellowships: Those given by the UGC and those given by JNU itself. The University Grants Commission provides Non-NET fellowships for M.phil/Ph.D. students, the Maulana Azad fellowships for minorities, and the Rajiv Gandhi National Fellowship for SC/ST students. Also, there is the Single girl child fellowship given to women students in MA if they have no siblings and score over 60% in MA first year. The JNU provides Merit-cum-Means scholarships for deserving poor students of BA and MA. It also provides Readers and Escort allowances for Physically Handicapped students.

Campus Life

5

If you're seriously considering the option of going into Academic research, JNU offers a good platform. The central Library is a huge asset to the university. The campus is huge so you have to walk around a lot, there's no attendance policy but professors aren't that dumb - it's quite easy to remember 30 faces from a batch, and your grades sure get affected if you take them for a ride. You're encouraged to do your own thing so far as it complies with university protocol. You can't bring in some absurd research hypothesis and continue working on it, you'll end up spending a decade on campus. The campus is politically charged - mostly Leftist supporters, so if you're not used to Student Unions, you'd find it interesting. Also, campus politics is much cleaner and more transparent than what's practiced in D.U. For women, it's a safe campus. Security is great, you can roam around at any time within campus without any apprehension one may feel while walking in Delhi streets after 10 pm.

Hostel Facilities

3.5

JNU hostels are the best place you can get, to stay in Delhi. Living on the beautiful campus of JNU is the experience of a lifetime. Imagine waking up to see a peacock dancing below your balcony, sunlight filtering through the leaves of the trees around you. It's almost like a scene from the poems of romantic poets. However that is about campus, there are some hard realities too that might kill some of the beautiful painted by me in the above paragraph. The rooms are not very spacious. Unless you are a Ph.D. scholar, you will have to share the room with one more student. Further, the food in most of the mess is not very tasty, specially Shipra and Koyna hostels. However, Lohit and Tapti Hostels have much better food.

Admission

From 2022 onwards, JNU is also accepting CUET scores for admissions. So, you must sit for the CUET exam. Previously JNUEE was being conducted to give admissions but this year it has been canceled and replaced by CUET. However, JNU has certain other criteria it considers before giving admission. JNU being an all-India University uses English as the medium of instruction for all programs of study except the language programs. Deprivation points are given to candidates in categories as mentioned in the Admission Policy 2022-23. Separate merit lists are prepared for candidates belonging to the General Category, SC, ST, OBC, EWS, and PWD categories and also in respect of Foreign Nationals for each program of study.

The course curriculum is a bit too theoretical and less practical. The exams in the college takes places every month which are seasonals and are for internal marking and then we have semester exams in every 6 months which accounts for the external marking.

Placement Experience:

Placements are available in college, the drive is quite extensive, everyone is made aware of the choices and options and counselling is present too. It is from the third year, students are eligible to apply for placements. Companies and organisations take part such as Niti ayog, Times, Geostrata, Prajatantra foundation, etc. Those who desire usually work on their CVs, keep on doi internships and then get a placement. The packages are not that impressive to be honest.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course is really very interesting. It keeps up with our expectations. Involves both practical and theoretical aspects to make sure that we are able to face the real world. Also, with the help of the guidance that we get from teachers we're able to ace both the aspects. The examinations also are based on applications, thus, helping us to enhance ourselves in all possibilities.

I got a seat in Ramjas College. It is a north-campus college. The infrastructure is too good compared to the remaining colleges. The teaching also going well but I faced some language problems. I'm from south India so I don't understand Hindi properly. But here mostly they teach in Hindi only and English is used very rarely.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course itself is prestigious and is mostly opted for by people who plan either on preparing for the Civil Services or those who want to pursue academia. The course structure is framed in a manner that you don't just simply study history there, but you ingrain a critical viewpoint of a young historian. The faculty of History Hons. has some of the best Professors in the University, although you will in any course at any college find some teachers below your expectations, you don't have to bear them for more than 1 or 2 semesters. Passing the exams is not very difficult, but yes scoring above average is. If you get a GPA ranging from 6 to 7, you've performed fine. Above that is considered a Very good performance in Hons. courses of Social sciences at Delhi University. there are semester exams every 5- 6 months
