Entrance Preview

I had cleared IMU-CET. My rank was 640 .I had to do marine engineering and this college is best in world for marine engineering so it's a natural choice.

Course Curriculum Overview

Course curriculum covers every part of engineering ( computer science,mechanical,electrical etc.).

Internships Opportunities

Normally we will do internship/training in 8th semester. Many companies come in our college ( MSC,NYK,SCI ,BW,SEATEAM, APL,CHELLSHIP'S ETC. ). Normally our stipend vary from 20,000 to 60,000,depends upon company.

Placement Experience

If you are all clear ( having no supply ),no body can stop you taking placement from campus. 100% placement since many years.

Fee Structure And Facilities

Our college take 2,25,000/- rupees per annum which is too high for a government college. Fee payment rules are so strict. First semester fees is 1,25,000 rupees. Second semester fees is 1,00,000 .

Fees and Financial Aid

Up govt. Scholarship, Bihar govt. Scholarship, dmet alumni scholarship,Lloyd's scholarship,SCI scholarship etc. Are provided for students .Loan facility is available from state Bank of India ( our college is in scholar loan college list ).

Alumni/Alumna

All seniors help a lot to Juniors in placements, works etc. They share experiences of this marine life.Placements totally depend upon seniors.Singapore dmet alumni group has started by our seniors.Our college is represented by the relation between Juniors and Seniors.

Exam Structure

Exam structure is on average pattern.not so hard,not so easy.but continuous study is the best key of passing exams.

I don't have idea about the placements since I'm in first year now. But I talked to a senior and got to know that many got multiple offers in 4th year. I also head that packages are around 4 lpa which is a decent and also a rise than the previous year.

The summary of my four years in one of the oldest colleges in India

Placement Experience:

The campus placements happen in final year of the course. There is a well established placement cell to conduct the on-campus placements. Many well renowned companies visit our college namely Microsoft, Google, TI, TSL, PWC, ICICI, ABG. L&T, etc. The highest package was 50LPA and the average was around 9LPA. Over 90% students got placed from across every department and details of the placement is also available in the college official website. I have gotten a job from the on-campus drive to a core company.

Placement Experience:

The placements of our college are below average. Studies for placement are more or less relevant from second semester. companies like tcs, amazon etc do visit our campus however very few are selected with package above 4-5 LPA. Most of the students seek out for higher studies and that's my plan too.

Placement Experience:

After the 6th semester, the students are eligible for placements. Mass recruiters like TCS, Wipro, Infosys, Accenture, Capgemini, etc visit every year and pick up 80-100 students per company. Other companies like Amazon, Thoughtworks, Etc also visit the college. The highest package offered by our college is 15LPA by Thoughtworks. Every year around 75-80% of students get placed on campus. I plan to get a good job work for 2-3 years and then apply for Masters. Overall the placement is very nice in this college.

Good for placements, excellent hostel life and good to learn, apply and fun. A college for all round development.

I have searched for many other colleges but i chose this because it is the oldest marine engineering college and has a benchmark legacy, and this college has shaped the merchant navy of the nation. It has been known for producing the finest marine engineers. I preffered marine engineering over other courses because this is a type of training that ensures your wholesome development. My college ( IMU Kolkata Campus) also known as DMET is one of the best marine engineering college from all over the world because here we learn how to handle bad situations, discipline and creates the eco friendly environment in between the senior and juniors as well as the batchmates and help each other in difficult times.
