IIT ROORKEE review

I chose this course because, at my rank in JEE, I was getting this course only. I chose IIT Roorkee and not the branch. Faculties are 25 and students 75 so the ratio is 1:3 Education is top-notch. There are lecture classes held offline in the lecture hall complex with smart class facilities. Weekly tutorials are also held in which students have to do assignments or presentations. There are practicals also held in some of the course in which we have to perform experiments in the respective labs. There are 2 exams per semester for each subject- mid-term exam(MTE) and end-term exam (ETE). MTE carries 40 percent weightage and ETE carries 60 percent. It is easy to pass the exam if one starts studying seriously one week before exams.

Spark Internship Program IIT Roorkee organized institute-funded SPARK fellowships for internships with a weekly stipend of? 2500/week. Students who are currently enrolled and have completed a minimum of 2 semesters of the undergraduate tech degree in a relevant discipline from any institute in India. The following minimum CGPA criterion will apply: CGPA > 7.5 for IITs/IISc. CGPA > 8.0 for NITs/ IISERs/ NISER/IIEST/UM-DAECBS. CGPA > 8.5 for students of other institutes. . From the 7th semester, we get eligible for placements. Tier 1 companies like Google, Microsoft, Adobe, Amazon, Goldman Sachs, DE Shaw, SAP labs, k12, Nvidia, axis bank, standard chartered, American Express, and many more good companies visit here. There are 980+ offers made by these companies. The highest package is in crores - 2 Cr Average package- 15 -17 lacs 90-95 percent of students get placed each year. My placement is done, so I have a software job in Bangalore after my degree.

Fees hike is not there. The tuition fee is 2 lac per year and the hostel and dining fee is 75000 per year. So the total cost to study and live is 2.75 lacs per year. There is a tuition fee waiver for students whose family income is less than 5 lacs for which one needs to submit the ITR of all the earning family members. There is a merit cum means(MCM) scholarship in which you have to be in the top 20 percentile in your class to avail of it.

Annual Cultural Fest- Thomso ( conducted in October) Annual Technical Fest- Cognizance (conducted in march) There is MGCL (Mahatma Gandhi Central Library) which has 3 stories and one underground floor which has many books and journals. There are many monitors also and best in class internet facility so you can read online also. Classrooms have 4 AC in one room and many fans, a projector, a smartboard, a blackboard, and sofa seats and benches. There is almost every sport available on campus be it cricket, hockey, badminton, football, volleyball, swimming, basketball, squash, or athletics. Every sport has its own court/ground. Besides these all outdoor games, almost all indoor games are available like pool, carrom, chess, foosball, and table tennis. Extracurricular activities include sports, gymkhana, and participating in many clubs. There are many clubs in campus. Software group, finance group, choreo group, robotics group, poetic group, and many more.

One table, one stool, one chair, one cupboard, one wooden bed, 2 power sockets, and one light rod. Meal quality is highly nutritious and healthy. Breakfast mainly includes fruits, poha, maggie, upma, dosa, idli, paratha on Sundays, sprouts, grams, cornflakes, milk, and egg. Lunch includes dal and sabzi and rice and chapati and the same for dinner. Hostel registration is compulsory for all students inside the campus. It is done automatically with the academic registation. It is done with biometric method. We have biometric before every meal in the mess.

The admission process was through JEE. The application needs to quality JEE Mains and then get a decent rank in JEE Advanced. Then he/she needs to sit for JOSSA counseling ( for iits and nits). Application forms and fees details can be found on the website of NTA(national testing agency) under the JEE section. The Obc category gets 17 percent of reservations. Improvement- There should be a sports quota.
