Course Curriculum Overview
The course is totally based on the core they don't keep into account the students who want to do jobs in non-core i.e. IT(mostly) or even any other field. Faculties here are nice. Some are strict, some are very lenient. Most faculties have graduated from IITs. At IIT Roorkee we have 2 exams per sem, mid-term and end-term. One can definitely pass them if one studies a week before the exam.
Placement Experience
The placements are nice. Almost every student gets placed. Last year, in 2022, almost over 1000 companies visited for on-campus placements. The average package depens on a branch. For cse average is 40L for ee avg is 20L and for mech avg is 18L.
Fees and Financial Aid
The fees are less for each semester and it's nice. There are many scholarships especially when you are in 1st year. They provide financial assistance to lower-branch students if they excel in academics. Also, there's new assistance being provided to some of the reservation students (those who filled out the form) of mess fess to be exempted and they will be paid some amount per month.
Campus Life
Campus life is very nice here. We don't have any time limit to enter the hostel. Though there are rumours about the new director who is against this for girls. Night canteens are there which operate from 2 am to 2 pm and then day canteens are open from 2 pm to 2 am. Infrastructure is also okayish though there's less space where you can sit with the group and enjoy or make noise. There's sac and Mac but u mostly explore them in 1st year and then you are bored.
Hostel Facilities
Food depends hostel to hostel. There are 3 hostels for girls and 7 for boys, 1 for PhD mtech who live with families. Room occupancy depends hostel to hostel for boys. Girls are supposed to stay in triple rooms till 3rd year and in 3rd year double rooms are allowed. In 4th year the provide single rooms in a different block.
Admission
JEE advanced has to be cleared to get into any IIT. For the branch I'm in, the crl should be around 4k for general boys and 8-9k for general girls. Application fees increase every year at least from my time till now it is increasing and now it is more than 1000 for girls and around 2000 for boys(general).
