Course Curriculum Overview
In the Engineering Physics course, they teach us theoretical physics and its implementations in the industry. The student-faculty ratio is around 1 to 6 n-and is respectable. The professors are well qualified and have a good knowledge of the subject but some of them lack in delivery of the content. Term exams take place twice a year and are easy to pass if you have studied regularly throughout the course.
Internships Opportunities
I have little knowledge of internships as I am yet to sit under for internships. All the major tech companies offer internships with hefty amounts of stipend. Also, a limited number of core and non-tech opportunities provide decent stipends on the whole.
Placement Experience
Students apply for internships in the third year and placements in the final year. The average in the tech sector is around 35 Lacs, and all the big companies like Google, Microsoft, and others visit the college. The core sector also performs decently. The highest package goes around 1.5 crores. I plan to go for higher studies after my degree.
Fees and Financial Aid
Fees are around 1,35,000 per semester which is nominal compared to private institutes. This is halved for castes reserved students. Apart from this, there are scholarships based on academics, sports, and many internship opportunities to grab.
Campus Life
The cultural fest THOMSON takes place annually around the end of October and the tech fest COGNIZANCE takes place around the end of March. There is a wide variety of both online and offline books available in the library. Classrooms are well-lit and have temperature control systems. Almost all sports facilities like squash, TT, badminton, etc are available.
Admission
To get admission to the IITs, one must go through JEE Mains and then JEE Advanced. It is conducted annually by one of the IITs on a rotation basis. It is a computer-based test comprising two papers of 3 hours each consisting of objective questions from physics, chemistry and maths. The application process starts around May or June, in which they must pay an application fee of around 100, which varies depending on which category they belong to. Cut-off for JEE Advanced varies depending on the difficulty of the exam and the number of applicants. Still, a minimum of 45 % marks should land you into a decent IIT for the general people. The admission process is transparent and rigorous.
