Remarks

Campus is very small and canteen is just a fancy word for saying it's a load of crapola. The faculty is refined and provides a great learning environment.

Entrance Preview

It's a private college so it has it's own entrance examination called JET along with an interview with the program head. I haven't got any clue of how much i scored but i guess it'd be decent. Opting for this college was an easy choice, basically i googles "best management institution for mass communication" plus my city (Delhi) and the first few results i got included JIMS.

Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

The course structure is well built up with lots of theoretical knowledge mixed with plenty of on the field/practical knowledge. The institute tries their best to keep up with the current practical knowledge and adds up all the important theories (subjects) in their diploma classes so that students can get both the fundamental knowledge as well as other necessities (e.g computer related skills , English communication etc)

Internships Opportunities

Yes it does provides internships for us. The main aim for them to do so is for us to set our foot in the industry and claim experience for ourselves. So, the stipend majorly depends on the students. If you're good the faculty sets you up with their own connections for a decent stipend plus work experience, otherwise just for the experience. I can't name all the companies, but some giants such as Hindustan Times and Dainik Jagran are some of them.

Placement Experience

4

As i have not graduated yet, I can't give a first-hand experience of these accounts, but yeah there are plenty of job opportunities. The faculty sets up campus placement cells for all the seniors. One of my senior got into Hindustan Times with a base salary of around 38-40 smthn K which is quite decent. Most of them got around 25-28K packages.

College Events

0.5

Like any other college we celebrate our Indian festivals (major ones) such as Independence Day, Teachers Day etc. We have two college fest , one is done by solely us and the other "Zest and Dandiya" which is the main college fest is done with the collaboration of the other JIMS branches. These two fest are quite big both in terms of size and structure. The zest and Dandiya one is held in Jawahar Lal Nehru stadium auditorium and this fest includes a plethora of activities (both on stage and off stage), such as solo dancing, group dancing, fashion show , talent show, singing (duet, solo, group) and much more.

Fee Structure And Facilities

Well we can't really compare the fee structure of our college with that of a government one. Personally i feel it's quite expensive. For each sem it'd about 50-60K which totals to around 3.3 Lakhs for the whole course. A detailed account cannot be given as it is not fixed (for one semester it'll be 58K , the other 45K and is quite dynamic as well) but the course fees which is 3.3K stays same.

Fees and Financial Aid

It's a two character answer which is No, or perhaps a four character answer which will be a nope. I don't understand the need to extend a simple answer into and extended one, but yeah, our college has no scholarship or loan facility.

Campus Life

2

Well each department will have different gender ratio. For our mass com department it's usually more girls less boys. It's kinda sad but our campus is quite small (very small infact) and you can't quite really see any diversity. You can find a mixture of good and bad crowd but it's a good thing that it's a minority of students which are bad crop. The rest are fine and friendly, and they won't bias you against your ethnicity or economic status or anything like that. For the rest, there are no cultural societies, workshops, student parties or anything like that. You can think of our college as a coaching institute.

Hostel Facilities

0.5

Our branch has not hostel facilities not to mention a mess. The surrounding locality is student friendly though. You can find a comfortable pg for around 10-11K (per month) which will include air conditioning, washing machine etc with meals as well. The downside of our college is a rundown tea stall cum thingy which the college calls a canteen. It's a sad picture yes..

Alumni/Alumna

It's a pleasant experience talking with the seniors as they have both amusing as well as sincere stories to share with us. They can give you tips , lend you equipment and help you understand complex topics. I am quite introvert so I can't really say i have much experience bonding with my seniors, but I have seen them lending dslr's even spending time teaching photography and final cut pro etc.

Exam Structure

Exam structure is quite static, and follows with the vast majority of Indian colleges where you have your internals followed with external examination for each semester. Not to mention, attendance and practicals goes into these accounts too. I don't partake in cheating or stuff (I don't find any need too) so i don't recon invigilators being lenient or stuff. And everything is laid in black and white, we get notifications (sms and mail) of all the exam dates and so, therefore it's never hectic.

Admission

First i got off their number from siksha.com to ask about admission details. I have to go up and get their booklet along with the admission form for about a thousand bucks. Quite elementary, fill the form, give the entrance test, take part in the interview and done. You get notified by a call, an email and also sms for all of the above (after you've submitted your admission form). The whole entrance test/admission was quite quick.

Faculty

4.5

The faculty is great honestly. You can feel their intellectual vibes and their experience while you sit in their lectures. We can proudly say that most of our faculty has in depth skills as well as knowledge working with the industry's giants and quite truly set the standards high for our output as a media person.

Placement Experience:

Placements are available in college, the drive is quite extensive, everyone is made aware of the choices and options and counselling is present too. It is from the third year, students are eligible to apply for placements. Companies and organisations take part such as Niti ayog, Times, Geostrata, Prajatantra foundation, etc. Those who desire usually work on their CVs, keep on doi internships and then get a placement. The packages are not that impressive to be honest.

The course is really very interesting. It keeps up with our expectations. Involves both practical and theoretical aspects to make sure that we are able to face the real world. Also, with the help of the guidance that we get from teachers we're able to ace both the aspects. The examinations also are based on applications, thus, helping us to enhance ourselves in all possibilities.

I'm from south India so I don't understand Hindi properly. But here mostly they teach in Hindi only and English is used very rarely.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course itself is prestigious and is mostly opted for by people who plan either on preparing for the Civil Services or those who want to pursue academia. The course structure is framed in a manner that you don't just simply study history there, but you ingrain a critical viewpoint of a young historian. The faculty of History Hons. has some of the best Professors in the University, although you will in any course at any college find some teachers below your expectations, you don't have to bear them for more than 1 or 2 semesters. Passing the exams is not very difficult, but yes scoring above average is. If you get a GPA ranging from 6 to 7, you've performed fine. Above that is considered a Very good performance in Hons. courses of Social sciences at Delhi University. there are semester exams every 5- 6 months
