Remarks

College management is very friendly with students.

Entrance Preview

I took JEE Advanced 2016 got rank -2963 (OBC). I opt for this college because it is one of the IITs and I got a good branch.

Course Curriculum Overview

5

There are 3 main core courses in Indian Institute of Jammu that are- 1. Mechanical Engineering 2. Computer Science 3. Electrical engineering for the first semester, we have mechanics, calculus, computer science and quantum physics as our core subjects and 2 extra subjects that are an introduction to engineering and language course

Internships Opportunities

No, Till now our college has no internship programs as it came into existence last year. But there will many internship programs in the coming years.

Placement Experience

4

There has been no placement in our college as we are the first batch of IIT Jammu. But there is no worry about placements as it is one of the IITs also all the students of IITs are brilliant minded. and we all know how nice placement of students of IITs have.

College Events

4

this is the first year for the college itself but we had our 1. inauguration 2. freshers 3. teachers day 4. Diwali festival the participation was only from college students. the freshers were not too big but was very good even teachers were also present.

Fee Structure And Facilities

feasible for every student for students with family income greater than 5 lakhs the fee is 115000 including the mess charges. for students with family income between 1 lakh to 5 lakhs, the fee is 78 thousand. for students with family income less than 1 lakh the fee is 25 thousand

Fees and Financial Aid

the fee for students vary as to their family income for students with less low family income are also provided free messing.

Campus Life

3

the gender ratio very poor as there are only five girls among 82 students. rather than that every student is provided equal opportunities in every field to come forward. students from all over India are at IIT Jammu. we do not have any of our own sports activity so we go to IIT Delhi for that.

Hostel Facilities

4.5

excellent. the hostel seats are few so it is sharing 4 students per room .the room is enough for all four. 5 thousand is a fee for a hostel in our college for those who dont want hostel are not required to pay this amount. we get 24 hrs of electricity. net services are also provided within the hostel

Exam Structure

The exam structure is very nice every semester we have two Minor exams And one Major exam and several quizzes. Minors are of 50 marks and Major is of 100 marks both including quizzes. At the end total, SGPA is calculated by these exams only. P.S. attendance is also taken into account

Admission

For getting admission in one the IITs I have to qualify JEE Main and JEE Advanced. Also, I had to score a good rank to get this admission. then I had to participate in seat allocation program after I got selected for IIT Jammu. I had to confirm/lock my seat by visiting nearest IITs. Last, I have to visit my college to pay for the admission fee.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course is quiet relevant it covers all the important subjects and topics.I chose the Ece branch as the demand of semiconductors is rising in the future. The curriculum perpares us well for real world applications. The course teaches us a lot of outdated concepts but it misses out to teach about what is happening in the world right now. So the course can involve a lot of topics that are in trend.

Placement Experience:

Placemets start right from your 7th semester. Most comapnies that would come here would be like vedanta , ashok leyland etc etc who mainly do mass hiring, th no of offers are quite low as for durig my time most companies qul do diversity and hiring would only select girls and the girls were low in numbers as compared to the boys so each girl recieved atleast 2-3 offers while rarely a boy would even rev=cieve a single offer. The highest package was offered by Vedanta but it was 13 lpa in ct in hand it would be arond 5-6 lpa , the average package was also the same around 5-6 lakhs per annum. Percentage of students placed would be around 30 percent but they inflated the numbers heavily but showing only the students who were eleigible as boys were mostle ineligible. My plans are to look for masters somewhere abroad.
