Remarks

As a whole the college balances the academic and non- academic activities profoundly well. Ihave always found the college evironment very peaceful and gay. It provides a good environment for studies as well as co- curricular activities. The campus is always kept clean and green. The college staff is also very helpful . The college management is doing a good job as per my experience.

Entrance Preview

I didn't have to give any entrance examination . The admission was on the basis of best of four marks scored in my 12th boards examination. My best of four was 95.5% and i got in on the first cut off list itself. I chose this college as i was comfortable with the campus and hostel facilities and had heard good feedback from acquaintances.

Course Curriculum Overview

4

My course is a plain bachelor in arts course in which i have two disciplines which i have chosen i,e. Eco and history and i have two languages hindi and english as compulsory. One language is taked per semester like if english is in the first sem then hindi would be in second. The fourth subject in the semester changes per sem with varied ranges it is mainly skill based and sometimes related to our discipline subjects. The course structure as such is fine but the quality can still be improved so that we can compete in the job world. The course is more book based than practical and not much job oriented

Internships Opportunities

The college is an government institution and in my knowledge does not provide internships in the college though campus recruitment happens through our placement cell. Companies like google , indian express, wipro, sahara etc have visited the colege for the purpose. I'am not as such aware of the stipend but it ranges between 15k to 50k approx. depending on job requirements. campus recruitment happens through our placement cell. I'am not as such aware of the stipend but it ranges between 15k to 50k approx. depending on job requirements. As i'am not much connected to the placement cell i'am not aware of detailed figures but job and placement opportunities are fairly good.

College Events

4

Our college is very good in organising events and throughout the year one thing or the other happens. It stars with the orientation for first years followed by freshers party. After this all the departments organise their own dept. fests. During the academic year certain talks , movie screenings, and speeches by dignitaries. Model united nation meetings are also held diring the year . Many societies also have their fests. Also diwali melas are organised and women development cell also organises its fest. Annual the college also organises its fest which goes on for around 3 days in which other colleges also come and some known personality is invited. So many varied events take place all around the year to keep the students occupied.

Fee Structure And Facilities

The fees structure is pretty affordable as the college is an govt. institution . The fees vary within diff. Courses . Also the college provides scholarships and economic assistance for economically backward students. The b.a programme course has an annual fees of around ₹11,000. The science courses have a slightly higher fees. As i'am not a science student i'am not aware of their exact figures. The st, sc and obc students comparatively have to pay a less amount of fees. Scholarships are given on the basis of merit and looking into the economic background of the students. At the end of the year the students who have some problem in submitting their fees can discuss it with college authorities. The problems of evry student is fairly considered . So the students can submit their names for economic assistance from college. College asses all the needy students and at the year end releases a list with the name of students to whom the economic assistance will be give. No bias on the basis of race ,religion ethnicity etc happens during this process. The fees structure as such is very affordable.

Fees and Financial Aid

The college offers many scholarships as well as gives economic assistance to economically backward students. Also all the students can avail free laptops till their time in the college. (3yrs)

Campus Life

4

Campus life is very lively. My college is an all girls college so there are no gender related issues. We also have women development cell promoting gender equality. We have different cultural societies like western and indian dance society. We also have dramatic societies . We have a fair amount of student diversity and students from all around the country and the globe comprise of the student strength. There are no bias against the ethinicity ,race, religion and sexual orientation, politics or economic status of any student ,staff etc. There is a zero tolerance for ragging in the college and such acts are punishable. Extra curricular activities are also plenty. We have our debating, quiz societies.we also have gandhi and vivekanand society. There is western and classical singing societies too . There is many workshops organised by these societies throughout the year. The college also has an army all girls ncc wing. We also have basketball and tennis ground as well as well equipped gym. We also have several martial arts training too. Yoga camps are organised on daily basis. The sports room is well equipped. Every department(science) has its own lab with attendants and is well equipped with needed appratus . We also have a three story building solely created as a library with well stocked books. The washrooms are also kept neat and clean and we have green environment with laws and flowers. Our gardens and lawns are one of the most beautiful in north campus. We also have a recycling plant which makes recycled paper. Variety of trees can be found around the campus. The college building is an heritage building and is well maintained by the college authorities. Our principal makes sure that our college has an interactive and healthy environment for students.

Hostel Facilities

4.5

The hostel and mess facilities are quite good. The rooms are mostly twin sharing and some are four searer too. Desks are provided and electricity is 24/7 there. There is also 24/7 supply of water and geysers are also there in the washrooms. The whole hostel is neat and sanity is taken care of with daily cleaning of the premises. There are around 370 seats including all the year students and diff. Courses are given diff. No. Of seats. The hostel also reserves seat of st ,sc and obc category students. Overall good quality standards are maintained.

Alumni/Alumna

According to my experience the seniors are very helpful. Thy have always helped us our problems , personal as well as study related. As second year students we also try out best to help our juniors wherever possible. The college has an good alumini network and departments too keep on organising alumuni meets. Even on our first day as freshers we were never bullied and our seniors on their own used to come and ask if we need any assistance around the campus. Me my self got to know about the college through one my mother's friend who is its alumnus. She had spoken very fondly about the college and i myself experienced that her remarks were true. I never have found difficulty in approaching any senior and have always heard of good experiences by any of the alumnus i have so far come across .

Exam Structure

The examination structure is solely based on delhi university guidelines and it is conducted same in every college under the university. The examination happens in two shifts in which honours students mostly get the morning slot and programme courses get the evening one. The timetable comes directly from the university and college has no hand in deciding datez. The examination and practicals are conducted very smoothly and water is also provided in between. Our college makes sure that a quite and peaceful evironment prevails during the whole examination time.

Admission

First, i had to register online for Delhi university under which my college comes. After the cut-off dates were announced i reached Delhi on the first cutoff date. I checked online on du website for different cutoffs of colleges and found that i was eligible for my college. The forms were given in a window outside the main building for which volunteers were there for help. After it we were asked to go to a certain room Assigned for my course where my required certificates like mark sheets, migration cert. etc were checked and % were calculated by teachers. We were then asked to go to out computer room to fill out online college forms after which our form was printed and sent to be signed by the principle. After this we were asked to go to the auditorium for rechecking of our originals with their photocopies. After this we were again sent to a room to submit our originals and the main application form with our personal details in it . After this, we were asked to submit our fees for the year and we were given our fee receipt. After this our digital photos and signatures were taken and our identity card was given to us. The process was lengthy.

Faculty

3.5

The faculty of the college is pretty good. The permanent staff is well qualified and experienced and help all the students equally with care. The ad-hoc staff is also god enough and tries its best to teach in way that all the students understand. The only problem could be that ad-hocs are not as refined as the permanent staff and college lags a bit in employing the permanent lot. The permanent faculty can be increased.

Placements are available in college, the drive is quite extensive, everyone is made aware of the choices and options and counselling is present too. It is from the third year, students are eligible to apply for placements. Companies and organisations take part such as Niti ayog, Times, Geostrata, Prajatantra foundation, etc. Those who desire usually work on their CVs, keep on doi internships and then get a placement. The packages are not that impressive to be honest.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course itself is prestigious and is mostly opted for by people who plan either on preparing for the Civil Services or those who want to pursue academia. The course structure is framed in a manner that you don't just simply study history there, but you ingrain a critical viewpoint of a young historian. The faculty of History Hons. has some of the best Professors in the University, although you will in any course at any college find some teachers below your expectations, you don't have to bear them for more than 1 or 2 semesters. Passing the exams is not very difficult, but yes scoring above average is. If you get a GPA ranging from 6 to 7, you've performed fine. Above that is considered a Very good performance in Hons. courses of Social sciences at Delhi University. there are semester exams every 5- 6 months
