NIT CALICUT

I'm currently studying in 4th year of Btech biotechnology. I was interested in genetics since 10th grade. So I opted for biotechnology here.Our class size is 28.There are around more than 15 faculties in our department.Each of them teaches different courses.There will be a faculty advisor for each class. Most of the faculties are taken PhD from abroad universities.There will be a mid term examination before the end semester examination for the evaluation. Also, there will be assignments and quizzes for internal assessment. There is sufficient time for studying.

The placement starts from the 7th semester onwards. A minimum CGPA requirement is asked for by some companies. TATA and BAJAJ offered company placement the previous year Goldman Sachs offered internships this year The percentage of students differs according to the branches. Computer science has 100% placement. But, In lower branches like biotechnology has no branch placements. I'm planning to go aboard for MS.

Here the fee structure varies based on the family income of the student. The student with a family income of more than 5 lakh wants to pay semester fees of around 62.5k.If the income is between 1 lakh and 5 lakh the fees are around 25k (approximate). if the income is below 1 lakh the semester is around 4000. There are many scholarships are provided. Egrants(for OBC and SC/ST students) are one of them, which reduces the hostel fees and mess fees. There are many companies that offers internship with stipend like kalliyath TMT, nestle etc

There are two main fests in our college. One is ragam which is South India's largest cultural fest. Which is conducted in the month of March. It is usually a 3 days fest with different art forms like kolkali, and duff mutt. Also, there will be shows of celebrity singers. Our tech fest is tattva. Which is usually conducted in October for 3 days. There are many technical workshops during Tathva.WHEELS is the important event that takes place during Tathva. Our classrooms are nice with enough air circulation and light. There are some classes with AC. College give importance to outdoor sports like cricket, football.as well as indoor sports like chess, boxing.There are many clubs for students entertainment.Some of them are Dnd,TAC,Lnd,ica.

For 1st year 4 students want to share a room. For 2nd & 3rd 2 students want to share a room. And for final years seperate room will be provided for each student. All rooms contain fans, lights, an almirah and a bed. The bathrooms are too good. There will be south Indian as well as North Indian food in the mess. breakfast, lunch, and supper will be provided. The registration is within the campus in the hostel office.

Based on the jee main entrance exam score, you can get admission at nit calicut. I had 96.5 percentile in jee main. There will be a cutoff for each department in nit calicut. The cutoff may vary. you can check their official site nitc.ac.in for application purposes. The information about reservation benefits is also there. I got an OBC reservation seat. There are reservation quotas for SC/ST and OBC students.
