Remarks

Since it is a government college. It is facing same problems like other govt colleges. Large politics and do nothings . Infrastructure is not good . Water logging problems in rainy season. But the good thing is that authorities are now paying attention on it , And i hope thing wil change in the upcoming years.

Course Curriculum Overview

Btech (marine engg). MBA (Port and logistics . Mba started this year. So i cant comment on that much.

Internships Opportunities

Btech (Marine engg) is different from other. We dont need to do an internship. All we requires 6 month on board training before appearing for class 4 exams.

Placement Experience

Placement is approx 75%.Last year with a batch of 250 students more than 210 were placed till now. This year with a batch of 210 students 115 students were placed already. And campus recruitment is still going on . After passing from this college a student will join as a engine cadet with a pay of 300-1000$ per month depending the type of company and the type of vessel he joins . Usually tankers vessel pays more than that of bulk carriers.

Tempest is the annual fest in this college. All arrangements are done by the students. We get very little financial support from college authorities. This fest is not as big as other college fest. Overall u can say that fest is very average.

2,25,000 per year. Which include all yours tuition , accommodation , mess fees. Loan is easy available. You can find a bank in the campus.

I don't have idea about the placements since I'm in first year now. But I talked to a senior and got to know that many got multiple offers in 4th year. I also head that packages are around 4 lpa which is a decent and also a rise than the previous year.

The summary of my four years in one of the oldest colleges in India

Placement Experience:

The campus placements happen in final year of the course. There is a well established placement cell to conduct the on-campus placements. Many well renowned companies visit our college namely Microsoft, Google, TI, TSL, PWC, ICICI, ABG. L&T, etc. The highest package was 50LPA and the average was around 9LPA. Over 90% students got placed from across every department and details of the placement is also available in the college official website. I have gotten a job from the on-campus drive to a core company.

Placement Experience:

The placements of our college are below average. Studies for placement are more or less relevant from second semester. companies like tcs, amazon etc do visit our campus however very few are selected with package above 4-5 LPA. Most of the students seek out for higher studies and that's my plan too.

Placement Experience:

After the 6th semester, the students are eligible for placements. Mass recruiters like TCS, Wipro, Infosys, Accenture, Capgemini, etc visit every year and pick up 80-100 students per company. Other companies like Amazon, Thoughtworks, Etc also visit the college. The highest package offered by our college is 15LPA by Thoughtworks. Every year around 75-80% of students get placed on campus. I plan to get a good job work for 2-3 years and then apply for Masters. Overall the placement is very nice in this college.

Good for placements, excellent hostel life and good to learn, apply and fun. A college for all round development.

I have searched for many other colleges but i chose this because it is the oldest marine engineering college and has a benchmark legacy, and this college has shaped the merchant navy of the nation. It has been known for producing the finest marine engineers. I preffered marine engineering over other courses because this is a type of training that ensures your wholesome development.
