- Location of the college is in main Patna. The campus is situated adjacent to Ganga Ghat where every Saturday Sunday evening aarti is performed.
- Since the campus size is small mobility inside the campus is very easy . You can cover the entire campus very easily without any bicycle.
- The hostel life at Nit Patna is quite amazing where you will make memories to cherish forever. Hostel particularly Brahmaputra are in good condition and there is a good supply of water and electricity. Nescafe is open till 4:00 am inside the hostel
Dislikes
- Because of the small campus there is shortage of Infrastructure such as the Library, Sports Facilities. There is a Central Library but has a limited seating capacity and very strict timing 8:00 am - 8:00 pm
- The new NIT campus is being constructed in Bihta so most of the fund allocated to the college is eaten up by Bihta construction. Therefore fests are allocated funds within budget.
Course Curriculum Overview
I choose mechanical engineering based on my JEE Rank i.e. 32028 and my interest in physics. Since physics plays a pivotal role in understanding Mechanical Engineering I believe it was the right decision to go ahead with. Since NIT is a govt college the faculty ratio is above the bare minimum but there is a good student-teacher interaction. The faculties are highly qualified having completed their post-graduation and Ph.D. from IITS and other reputed institutes. Semester exams are conducted timely on a regular basis. The level of exam may vary with subjects based on faculty because the papers are set in the institute itself. Because of relative grading sincere students can easily expect good grades.
Placement Experience
From 5th semester onwards companies start visiting for intern and full-time roles.CRED, Bharat Pe, BPCL, EIL, BEL, ORACLE, and Amazon are some of the noteworthy names participating in campus placement. Around 112 companies participated in the 2023 placement session. The highest offered was 52 lacs per annum by CRED and the average stood at Rs 13.5acs pa. Major roles offered were SDE, Analyst, GET(Graduate Engineer Trainee), PGETetc. Many students received multiple offers. Overall the placement percentage stands around 90%. I plan on doing an MBA after completing a couple of years in an esteemed organization. Mechanical witnessed the highest placement percentage followed by computer science and other circuital branches.
Fees and Financial Aid
There are three tiers for fees based on income level, Below 1 lac: Rs 5000 +hostel fees, 1lac -5lac: 2/3 of fees are remitted. + Hostel fees, Above 5 lac: Full semester fees +Hostel fees. For SC/ST Candidates irrespective of Income they pay 5000 for semester and hostel fees. Since my income is above 5lacs I have to pay full semester fees. Income is verified by INCOME CERTIFICATE issued by concerned authorities.
Campus Life
College is situated in main Patna so there is no dearth of any sort of product used in hostel life. Spicy street foods can be tasted in vicinity of campus itself. The name of Tech Fest is TECHNO CULTURAL FEST(TCF) earlier it was called Corona and Melange. Books can be issued for whole semester from book bank but it opens for a stipulated time during the start of semester. Normally books are issued for 14 days and ccan be reissued throughout the semester. The college campus is small so are the sports grounds. But there is A STUDENT ACTIVITY CENTRE (SAC) which houses badminton court, Gym, squash, table Tennis etc . Various technical club such as ASME,SAE,IEEE,GDSC,ISIE, ROBOTICS CLUB etc are here alongwith social clubs such as SANKALP for teaching non previliged kids of nearby area. Classroom are equipped with Air conditioning system and proper ventilation. New classrooms even have smartboards inn them. Overall the campus passes the vibe check.
Admission
I appeared for JEE(MAINS) and then I sat for JOSAA Counselling in order to secure a seat in this college. Since all admission is done through JOSAA so for any query contact the JOSAA body. I haven't availed of any reservation benefit. In my time during the 1st round, we had to pay around 35,000 for seat confirmation. In total 6 rounds were conducted and CSAB(Central Seat Allocation Board) was also conducted.
