Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

The course curriculum is well-designed and covers most of the aspects which are required to be covered in the syllabus. The faculty-to-student ratio is 1:55 (in my class). A considerable number of faculty members are there in the biosciences and technology department, all of them are well qualified and whose details(education qualification)are also mentioned on the website. The teaching method is understandable, the language is spoken at all times in English, and interactive sessions are the way of teaching for most of the faculties. The assessment is done with 60 marks internal and 40 marks external written examination. 60 marks are divided into 2 assignments of 15 marks each and 30 marks midterm examination.

Fees and Financial Aid

The course fee is 100000. Scholarships are made available to the students if they are eligible and accordingly, 25% 50% 75% and 100% scholarships are available for about 2% of the intake. The scholarship policy is also given on the website. This scholarship can be continued for the coming semesters if the student maintains his CGPA. If we compare it to other universities which provide the same course, considering the fees as well as scholarships, if you are an excellent student, the course is affordable.

Campus Life

5

The campus is beautiful, green, and clean. It is a very happening University. A lot of events and fests are organized throughout the year. For this particular course, reference books are not available in the library however, the ebooks are timely provided by the faculty. The classroom amenities are good and the labs are also clean and well-equipped with most of the course-related instruments.

Admission

The entire communication for the admission was done via inquiry through it. wpu's admission portal and e-mail. The details for eligibility, application fees, and date is well mentioned on the official website. The admission is done on the basis of your mit wpu cet marks as well as a personal interview (PI). CET for Biotechnology consists of PCB and general knowledge. In the personal interview along with getting to know your personality, they ask you course-related questions as well. Confidence is key for the PI. PI is of 50 marks, Out of which I scored a 48. My admission was solely don't on the basis of PI and 12th marks. The MITWPU CET has been introduced in 2023.

Interview Experience

5

Interview questions are solely based on getting to know your personality and seeing how confident you are. Apart from that course related questions and previous knowledge biology-related questions are also asked in the PI. There is no as such specific preparation for the interview. Just get well versed with how to introduce yourself, have some communication skills, also reply positively, and brush through course-related questions such as why you are interested in biotechnology, why you want to join this particular course, etc.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I chose Biotechnology because it is a multidisciplinary field. We get to study not only topics related to biotechnology but also biochemistry, bio physics, bio informatics, bio statistics, etc. Mostly everything that is essential for future exams is taught during the span of 3 years. The topics of the units are taught in depth but the questions asked during exams are comparatively easy as to what all we studied. The frequency of the exam is, 1 internal exam which consists of both mcqs and written exam, the semester exam for each semester and practical exams for each subject. If u have studied then you will be able to attempt the questions.

Placement Experience:

My college gives campus placement placement opportunities typically after 4th semester, which is the 2nd half of the 2nd year. As my college has a partnership with IBM so the standards of campus placement go right up as the placement depends on the curriculum performance of the student so can't really say much for this. If saying as a stalemate, getting a placement is basically confirmed if the student maintains his/her CGPA of 6-7, which shows the consistent of the student in their field.
