- The course of MA101 is a thing to be disliked the avg. marks in the course is just 3 out of 30.
- Freshers are provided double sharing rooms.
- The central gym in the campus needs to be improved.
Course Curriculum Overview
I chose this course because I was a little bit interested in the field and it was the best course I could get depending on my rank. The faculty-student ratio is quite good and also teacher's assistants are also available for more ease. All the faculties are well qualified having multiple degrees from the top universities of the world. The teaching methods of the faculties are also very nice. They try to establish each concept in the minds of students. The exams are held timely like midsem exams were conducted for us.
Internships Opportunities
Companies such as Blackstone, Apple, Amazon, Adobe, Facebook, Flipkart, Nvidia, etc. provided internship opportunities at the campus. Also, a total of 215 students were provided pre-placement offers by the companies.
Placement Experience
According to my knowledge students who are in the 7th semester are eligible for the placement opportunities provided by the campus. The international companies are Google l, Microsoft, JP Morgan Chase, American Express, Texas Instruments, Uber, Qualcomm, C-DOT, Enphase Energy, and Oracle, and Indian companies are Reliance, Bajaj, Axis Bank, ICICI Bank, and many more giving a total of 246 companies. A total of 1,112 students were placed on the campus which accounts for 78.04% of total students across all programmes. No. of international offers provided was 20.
Fees and Financial Aid
The cost to study at IIT Guwahati is approximately 150,000 for each semester. I don’t have much knowledge about the fee hike policy of the institute but as it is a government body it must be not very much. As of now, scholarships are available for SC/ST, pwd, and Gen(EWS) students. As a first-year student, there is no job opportunity on campus with a stipend.
Campus Life
The annual fest of the campus is ALCHERINGA which is from the 2nd to the 5th of February. The techfest of the campus is TECHNICHE which was held from 31st August to 3rd of September with multiple events and programs for students. The library on the campus is a huge one with hundreds of books and journals in each field.
Hostel Facilities
The first-year students get a shared room in the hostel equipped with appropriate furniture proper lights and fan and a cupboard. The quality provided by the mess is very good. The menu is also very good providing a variety of food to the students which is revised every month. Also, there is a mess assessment held each month online for the betterment of the quality of the meals. The registration process is along with the admission process. So it is quite easy and the fees are included in the total fee of the semester.
Admission
The admission process of my college (IIT Guwahati) is through the well-known exam JEE(Main+Advance). The application form can be found on the official website of the conducting body i.e. NTA. The website is nta. nic. in/jee mains. The Jee mains exam is conducted in two sessions January and April session. The eligibility for the Jee Advance exam is to be selected in Jee mains and min. 75% marks in the 12th Board exam or in top 20%ile of the respective state boards. The dates are announced application forms are released approximately 1.5 to 2 months before the date of exam. After the declaration of result counselling process in conducted by the josaa in 6 rounds. After the completion of the 6th round, each one gets their college whoever is eligible.
