A worth-reading review, for sure

I chose MNC because.. firstly I wanted to go to software job only and so I didnot apply for core courses. Secondly, MNC is a very good branch and has very vast scope in job opportunities. It covers finance, mathematics and computer science. But one thing to mention is, it is less flexible. IIT Guwahati's MNC curriculum is impressive,it is designed fair but it is indeed tough. It has much experienced and highly qualified faculty , teaching is nice too. We have faculty student of 1:17 here. Coming to exams, a semester longs for 4 months. We have midsems at end of 2 months, endsem at end of 4 months(end of semester) & class tests called quizzes in between.

As per intern recruitment season of 2022-23, started from 1st July 2022, total of 80 companies participated. With total internship offers of 425 for Btech and 84 for other programmes, total number reaches to 509. Max stipend: 750000. I'm presently studying second year so I will not be able to give my personal opinion on how internships are in my college, since I'm yet to experience.

Placements season happens after the 7th semester in our college during winter holidays. Being a top tier college so many big companies visited , total 300 companies partcipated in the recruitment process. The placement percentage for overall B.Tech programme is 83% whereas in our branch exclusively it is 95.5%. The highest package overall is 240LPA (international) and 120LPA (domestic) and average package being 21LPA. Exclusively for our branch, highest is 62.7LPA and average 29LPA. All the statistics I provided are as per our college placement reports of 2022-23.

Tuition fees is 100000 per semester and hostel fees including others is 32000 per semester. For SC/ST,there is fee waiver. they need to pay fees of 32000 in total. Those students with annual income very less get full fees back. They need not pay anything which makes poor people also to afford. Financial assistance and other scholarships are provided for those students financially backward based on their family income.

We have cultural fest, Alcheringa , North East India's largest cultural fest conducted in the months of Jan/Feb. Other thean students, many people from outside the campus from all over North East India visit our college and participate in this fest. We also have tech fest,Techniche conducted in the month of September. Our library has plenty of books and journals, a lot of variety books good in quantity also. We have high number of clubs here run by the students, tech clubs namely, Coding club, Finance and economics club, Consulting and analytics club, AI club,etc. Cultural clubs namely, Cadence (dance),Octaves (music),Xpressions (drama),etc. We have sports clubs too. Nearly all sports activites are available on our campus and anyone can play anytime. Classrooms are very good looking , air-conditioned , with projectors too.

There are 13 hostels in total, 2 girls hostels, 11 boys hostels, 1 married scholars hostel. I live in hostel Dhansiri. Rooms are double-occupied, spacious and facilities provided are sufficient enough. Mess quality is not very bad ( sometimes bad ofcourse ) , actually differs from hostel to hostel. Menu is supposed to change every month and discussed about it in the monthly hostel meetings but doesn't really change lot. Hostel alotment is not our choice and they're alotted by the management itself. Hostel rent + mess fees is 25000 per semester.

The admission into all IITs will be through JEE ADVANCED exam. I was able to clear JEE MAIN exam with a good rank of AIR 1082 . Thus I got eligible to sit in JEE ADVANCED and cleared it with a decent rank of AIR 5152. The application process and alotment will be through JOSAA portal. I applied for all the top IITs (only for CSE & MNC as per my interest) and I'm a female OBC candidate(OBC RANK: 1002). So I got alotted MNC in IIT GUWAHATI . The cutoff in our year is around 1200 in OBC female category. JOSAA counselling portal takes fees of 3000 only and we give our order of preference in IITs , NITs and IIITs as per our interest and we will be alotted a seat as per our rank.
