NIT Silchar Review

I got this course as per my choice prefrences that was filled by me at the time of college counselling, also the NIT silchar is a one of the best NIT so i gave prefrence to college over course. coming to faculties and student ratio, some of the faculties there are very helpful and calm but some are very ignorant and does not care much about students. Student ratio is like there are approx 1000 students in one batch out of which boys girls ratio is 3:1. Faculties are very well qualified in terms of degrees but i have seen one thing that many proffesors completed there phds from NIT silchar only and now they are teaching at same college. Some of them have nice teaching methods like solving questions on board , helping students by giving notes while some of them teach by simple presentation with mu h less practice. Exams schedule is given at the time of semester beginning and ther are held as per that. exams are not that difficult as questions come from teacher notes and tutorial sheets.

Internships opportunities are as same as placements opportunities. companies like accenture , adobe , de shaw , microsoft etc give internships there with stipend varying from.50000 to 1lakhs too. Web development jobs are offered many times but students gets less chance in internships now as due to recession the intern opportunities are not that good too.

from 7th sem companies start coming in our campus for placements. many companies visit out college as its a NIT like google , amazon , aws , microsoft, paytm, accenture , cognizant, adobe, de shaw, morgan ,byjus , hcl , infosis , oyo, sony, deloite,arcesium , bookmyshow and many more. Around 165 companies visit out college for the same. the hisghest on campus package was offered 80 lakhs per annum to the a computer science student and 14.5 lakhs per annum was our average package offered. overall around 90% students are placed every year. i am also planning to.sit for IT placements and then i will.prepare for IES

The tuition fee for me is 10100 per semester as i have opted for fee relaxation because my family income is below 1 lakh. there are 3 categories in NITs for fee relaxation ie. Above 5 lakhs income , between 1 and 5 , below 1. if dont opting for fee relaxation the tuition fee is around 68000. also we have to give 10000 as caution money in our first year. hostel fee is only 1000 per sem but mess fee is little bit high as 22500 is taken for it which inlcude 1500 for BHM contribution. the fee hike policy is not standardised and fee hike was seen in mess fee as last year the mess was 19500 but it became 22500 per sem this year. i got the financial assistance of the 10100 that i paid was only extra fee as tuition fee is 0 for me as i got the fee waiver for less than 1 lakh. if income is between 1 to 5 then 2/3rd of fee is waived over. For jobs that oportunities starts to come in third year as internships and final placements in 4th year.

The tech fest is technosis conducted in month of october and annual cultural fest is Incandescense held in february. The library of NIT silchar is Asia's biggest digital library and is very big. the books for every courses are provied by library with 4 books limit per student. library have 3 floors and a big hall to study there with many journals too. classrooms are not that good. they are like school.class rooms, many rooms have faulty projectors but A new gallery has now built which has more capacity, clean , working projectors. for sports we have a very big sports complex in whoch we have an auditorium, badminton court kho kho court , gym , kabaddi court . outside we have basket ball court , 2 volleyball courts , 1 football field and 1 cricket stadium. For table tennis we have other building where badminton is.played too. NIT silchar has many clubs and all of them are run by students like clubs for music , every sports , dance., GDSC by google , coding ,Ecell, Iluminits , MUN,acting

Our room now has 2 cupboards but we are living 3 students in one room that is not comfortable. one fan , three lan ports , 3 table chairs and 3 bed are provided with 1 tubelight and two holders extra.mess quality is not that good the menu is diverse with north indian , south indian , north eastern cuisins. the quality is not that good. students monitor the mess and they try to improve it. The mess is runned as per day meals ie. per day charge is charged from that 22500 money given in mess advance. The registration process includes a form that has to be fill out at the time of semester registration and given to hostel office with fee recipt and then we are alloted rooms. Affordability is very good as hostel fee is only 1000 per sem with extra money for electrocity and water bill and other small things but the overall expense is very less as compared to.mess fee.

I took the Joint entrance examination for NIT and IIT. When i got around 94 percentile in jee i opted out for counselling and filled out my college prefrences. In the special round conducted by josaa at the end of general counselling i got NIT silchar Civil branch. The general cutoff for jee was 89 at that time. So i got there in NIT silchar on the date given to me by college for admission process. Basic documents were verified on the JOSAA website itself before the physcial reporting in college. i opted out for the fee relaxation as my family income is less than 1 lakh. i had to submit that income certificate. When i got into college i had to fill a form with my basic details and had to verify all the documents again physically there verified by college proffesor. I had to submit income certificate also for fee relaxation. Then all the documents were put together in my college file which had a registration number on it, thats my college id. then i registered for my hostel nd thats all
