Remarks

Kirori Mal college does cover wide range of facilities and quality life, with a high percentage of competition, which is good, but sometimes it also create pressure amongst the students. I hope that It's quality will increase rather than it's consequences in a negative way. My overall experience in the college was full of ups and downs. This was not because of the responses, but because of the challenges students have to face while in competition. I was very lucky to transform myself from silence to speech through social exploration. Before college experience I hardly used to talk with others, but after the end of History Honors, I changed completely. Overall, it was great to be the part of KM College and thence I feel that every Kirorian must be proud of being the unique student of the campus.

Entrance Preview

I passed the 12th standard and landed up in this place through the direct cut-off process in 2012 but due to my thigh fracture in 2015 I took 4 years to complete my graduation. Although a short interview was taken in the starting of the 1st year by professors of the Legacy, the history society to analyse historic capacity in me. History was my all time favorite so I opted for the BA(Hons) in it. But in all means the college offers unique standards and by such means I enjoyed it's great impact in my college days.

Course Curriculum Overview

4

Certainly History Honors is a unique course which gives the scientific depths of the Humanities. We were taught techniques of Archeology, explained how people behaviours are in concern to understand foreign history like of China and Japan. It was expressed that in what way expression of science and technology can be used to study History which involves archeological methods, counting techniques and using scientific testing for proving historic artefacts. As far research was concerned, we were taken to trips by the department to historic sites across India which included National museum trip in Delhi, a wonderful site research in Aurangabad, a unique trip to Bheembetka hills, another one in Ahmedabad and in other parts to justify how to do research and field work to elaborate and prove historic status. At the end, we also had elective subjects like English literature, Citizenship in the Globalised world and Hindi to understand other cultural standards which lit the standards of the college at large.

Internships Opportunities

The college did provide internship to history students and help them connect directly to the National museum and work of 6 months for a great archeological understanding. I did not attend that one, but I did take part in another internship of Content writing and I kept submitting writing work on regular basis and been paid accordingly which was a great experience. As far the National museum internship is concerned, The students do get around 2K per month with certificate and the internship in which I worked it provided 1K per month.

Placement Experience

4.5

For those who want placement, They would go the Avanews cell of Kirori Mal college which was popular for giving placements or helping people or students to settle. Companies basically established in content writing, cultural perspective and helping new minds to work in human resource would visit and help the students to get place accordingly. As far I had got the wind of the Cell, The average package was around 2-5 Lakhs per year and Students were satisfied to get the momentum. However, they were required to give test, clear the interview and fulfil the demands of the companies rather than getting selected on basis of percentage.

College Events

4.5

The best of the festival organised by the Kirori Mal college is Renaissance which is one of the biggest in the whole University. Apart from that, we have Commercial and Technical workshops and managerial capacity competitions in the Unity festivals 3 times in an year which is a great boost to have. Renaissance is fantastic to experience and it's highly rated with quality competition giving 10K in starting prize money and inviting a Bollywood stars to perform. Apart from that, technical and managerial fests provide 1K prizes to people individually with great cultural and economic boost which gives a unique impact. There are also societies like Prayas which is the enabling unit for the Disabled students and even they have also set great cultural standards. The college authorities are always involved in the technical, cultural and managerial fests and they do provide funds to organise events with support of Department President, Regional heads and College president and the union to make things possible.

Fee Structure And Facilities

In the beginning, It was told that 7 thousand would be charged for admission fees in the college (Hostel fees not included), But for we the Physically Challenged people it was decreased to it's 1/4th in the time being. It was surely affordable and great experience once the formalities of submitting fees direct to the bank clerk was done by support of my father.

Fees and Financial Aid

College does provide scholarships on basis of the performance of the student. It has a connection with the UK embassy and with other embassies to help provide loans. As I continue to have short visits being the Indian Quiz captain, so I didn't take any scholarships to avail and so I didn't go out for asking them to provide me loans and make it possible.

Campus Life

4.5

Firstly, It is a great fact to share that Kirori Mal college has been one of the best college in North Campus that takes admission also on basis of Extra Curricular Activities(ECA) fields and give ample opportunities. The Musoc, Players, Debsoc, Parivartan (Gender forum), Sport societies, Prayas (Disability rights club), Round Table societies and many more have performed outstandingly in the past and have contributed a lot to set up high standards. Now in concerns to my case, I had been very lucky to be the part of 3 of the best societies including Parivartan, Debsoc and Prayas. I did develop a writer in me by debating and awareness standards which has yielded results and today I am author of 17 Books in which 5 are national and 12 are international. The facilities of extra curricular activities are uniquely developed here. People are great to support and train us on our capacity as well as they were able to settle scores and help our skill evolve in a more high percentage standards. Thus it can be said that KMC rocks when it comes to ECA standards.

Hostel Facilities

5

Yes, I was very lucky in the 2nd month of my 1st year to get the Kirori Mal college hostel. The total fee for 3 years in hostel was 40 thousand only. Not everyone was given the single room in the whole hostel. There were, as far I am concerned, only 4 single rooms elsewhere students were given two-seater or three seater to stay. My room was the 3-seater room and I kept it to me having great unique memories of staying there for 3 years. PG system was not given to everyone, but to very few who wouldn't make it clear to hostel, as it was been selected on category and percentage basis. The quality of food in hostel was phenomenal with variety in the same system. Being a Kumauni and having benefit of Kumauni mess working staff was a bonus with high percentage tastes they provide. For those who demanded non-veg, it was made available but for people like me who are vegetarian, they offered fantastic cheese, sweet dishes and various main course dishes which was a great experience altogether.

Exam Structure

It was an absolute chilling experience. Roaming around during preparation leave and discussing the main debates of Historians was great fun with the guys an they all made me laugh. Roaming and celebrating around in the library, department room and testing site was also a great fun and we did enjoy a lot so it was a definitely a chilling culture.

Faculty

4.5

We were very lucky to study under PhD scholars like Firdos Anwar sir, Shahana Bhattacharya madam, Sundaram Shukla madam, Amrinder sir and many other historians. The intensity they showed in class was unique and of high percentage. The regular interactions were professional and very remarkable with thorough guidance for future which was a great experience. The experience of growing in history was a dream come true and thence 3 years in my Kirori Mal college were of great and unique standards.

Placements are available in college, the drive is quite extensive, everyone is made aware of the choices and options and counselling is present too. It is from the third year, students are eligible to apply for placements. Companies and organisations take part such as Niti ayog, Times, Geostrata, Prajatantra foundation, etc. Those who desire usually work on their CVs, keep on doi internships and then get a placement. The packages are not that impressive to be honest.

The course is really very interesting. It keeps up with our expectations. Involves both practical and theoretical aspects to make sure that we are able to face the real world. Also, with the help of the guidance that we get from teachers we're able to ace both the aspects. The examinations also are based on applications, thus, helping us to enhance ourselves in all possibilities.

I'm from south India so I don't understand Hindi properly. But here mostly they teach in Hindi only and English is used very rarely.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course itself is prestigious and is mostly opted for by people who plan either on preparing for the Civil Services or those who want to pursue academia. The course structure is framed in a manner that you don't just simply study history there, but you ingrain a critical viewpoint of a young historian. The faculty of History Hons. has some of the best Professors in the University, although you will in any course at any college find some teachers below your expectations, you don't have to bear them for more than 1 or 2 semesters. Passing the exams is not very difficult, but yes scoring above average is. If you get a GPA ranging from 6 to 7, you've performed fine. Above that is considered a Very good performance in Hons. courses of Social sciences at Delhi University. there are semester exams every 5- 6 months
