Course Curriculum Overview
I chose the course of Computer Engineering because I had a deep interest in computers and tech, right from my childhood. The opportunities in the sector of Computer Science are also more, which was also an incentive for me to choose this course. The faculty student ratio is 15:1. The faculty is well qualified . There are sessional exams (2 in each semester), mid semester exam and an end semester exam for each course, lab evaluation may also be there if the particular course has a lab. The exams are based on the syllabus taught in the lecture/lab and cover the course learning outcomes thoroughly.
Placement Experience
The college offers: 2 month summer internship opportunities, 6 month winter internship opportunities and full time placement opportunities oncampus. Many reputed names including DE Shaw, Arcesium, Intuit, Salesforce, Cisco etc visit the campus oncampus to hire the students. Greater than 98% students are placed oncampus, barring those who go for futher studies or start their own startup.
Fees and Financial Aid
The course is quite expensive, compared to government engineering colleges. The annual fees for a year is greater than 4 lakhs per year, and that too, after excluding the hostel fees. The hostel fees is also very high, compared to other colleges. However, the college offers various kind of scholarships like 'Merit Scholarship', 'Merit and Means Scholarship' etc to the deserving and needy candidates. The details of these scholarships can be found on Thapar's Website.
Campus Life
The life at campus is pretty enjoyable. The annual fest 'Saturnalia' is a quite grand event, and famous singers or personalities are invited to this event. The library at Thapar is also quite big, and has an availability of many books, research papers, journals etc. The classrooms are modern built with facilities like AC, Projector etc. There are various socities and clubs too in the college, for people with different interests like music, dancing, arts or coding.

There are two modes of admission: through JEE based counselling and through Class 12 PCM/PCB Marks. The eligibility criteria is 'passing with minimum of 60% marks in PCB/PCM'. The application form, fees and dates can easily be found on their webiste admission.thapar.edu
