Likes
- The coding culture here is amazing. The computer science of IITP -> NJACK has several subdivisions like Competitive programming, Web dev, App Dev, ML, Cyber sec. So you can learn a lot from them.
- Night life. You can freely roam around the 550 acres anytime. There are night canteens also for food.
- Seniors. A place is made by its people and IITP has some of the most talented people and seniors. Everyone is super helpful.
Dislikes
- Hostel rooms. Hostel rooms are very small and the cleaning person comes only once a week.
Course Curriculum Overview
The IIT Patna CSE is highly prestigious. The faculties are highly trained, and all have Ph. D.s with post-doctorates from foreign universities and older IITs. The total number of faculty members in the CSE Department is almost 15-20. The average class size is approximately 90. A semester is four months long, and we have exams every two months. Also, there are several quizzes. Passing the exams is easy but getting a good CPI is a bit tough.
Internships Opportunities
Several companies, like Google, Microsoft, Flipkart, Atlassian, Sprinklr, Warner Bros Discovery, etc, came for internships. Some companies offered more than 1 Lakh INR. The average stipend will be approx 75 Thousand. The roles offered were SDE, SWE, Data Scientist, Consultant, ML engineer, etc. I applied for SDE roles and made a full stack web-development project for Training and Placement cell of IIT Patna.
Placement Experience
Companies start visiting in the 4th year. Several students get PPO(Pre placement offers ) from internships also. Companies like Google, Sprinklr, Warner Bros Discovery, Directi, Atlassian, and many more visit for on-campus placement. Almost 150 companies visit for placements. Highest package -> Approx 80 Lakh INR Average package -> Approx 26 Lakh INR In CSE , almost 100% placement is there. However, the percentage decreases sharply for other branches.
Fees and Financial Aid
For one semester, Tuition fee -> Rs 100000 Mess Fee -> Rs 18000 Hostel Fee -> Rs 2500 Medical Insurance -> Rs 2000 Other expenses -> Rs 7000 If you are from SC/ST, then the tuition fee is waived. Also, your tuition fee drops to Rs 41000 if you have an income certificate.
Campus Life
College Life at IITP is amazing. Several fests are being held throughout the year. Celesta -> Tech fest Anwesha -> Cultural fest Infinito -> Sports fest Reverberance -> Diwali celebration The above are the major fests that are held. The college has several clubs like NJACK(for Computer Science), Exousia (Dance club), Aria (Music club), Syahi (for poetry and writing), Yavanika (Drama club), Astronomy and Particle Physics Club, Quiz Club, etc. There are clubs for each department. The library is filled with books and a new central library is also being made.
Hostel Facilities
Every student is provided with a table, chair, bed, and cupboard. Freshers and sophomores are supposed to live in double/triple occupancy. Junior-year students in double occupancy. And senior-year students live in triple occupancy. Mess food could be better, but to save your day, there are many places on campus where you can eat. You will be provided a hostel room when you come to campus for the first time.
Admission
The admission is done via JOSAA Counselling. Firstly, you have to give JEE Mains. If you clear that, then you will have to give JEE Advanced. After that, JOSAA counseling begins. In that, you will have to choose colleges and branches where you want to be admitted. You will get to choose between IITs, NITs, and IIITs. Depending upon your JEE rank, a college will be assigned to you.
