Remarks

Overall, my college life is best. I thoroughly enjoyed my college life. There were lots of opportunities for me to explore myself. I became a really literary person after the course. It was a beautiful three years. Some of those days are the memories I still cherish. The college has had its negatives, but which college doesn't have any!! The course was the best part because it was really good and detailed. My love for the Punjabi language was furthered by it. I also used to love the campus.

Entrance Preview

There were no interviews and entrances to get into SGTB. I got admission on basis of marks I had in my 12th standard.

Course Curriculum Overview

5

The whole curriculum was simply perfect and there is no other way to describe it. We had learnt the grammar and the literature, from the Old Punjabi literary genres to the latest novels and musical innovations that had come into the language, we covered it all in the syllabus. We were also encouraged to learn about the origin and development of the language. We, of course, use Punjabi for communication while at school. Those of us who have it as our mother tongue used it all the time. It is one among the most spoken languages in India. It is a well-developed language and there are a lot of literary nuances in it which sets it apart. In our curriculum we not only are taught them but we also explore the Punjabi culture and history as part of it. I don't know if there was any research going on in our campus that time, there could be.

Internships Opportunities

I didn't do any internship. For my course, I was unable to find suitable internship. I was not really interested in doing an internship in something like Marketing or Content writing in English. The college did not provide us internships within the campus. There were also no arrangements made for internship recruitment in the campus, like in other colleges. My classmates who were interested in internship experiences found something on their own or online like work from home internships.

Placement Experience

2

There was no job placement in that college for my course. The only placements available were offered for the B.Com and BBA students, that is, the commerce department. Even then only few companies came at end of the year for placements in the campus. But since the number of students who appeared was less than 50, there was a chance for almost 70 percent of them to get one job or another. Some of them never applied and went on to do a PG. I don't know about the average packages or anything.

College Events

4

The annual fests were the best programs in college. It included a lot of competitions like musical events, dance programs of students, instruments and food stalls. The best part of these was the that popular singers performed in college during these days. The live music was superb. We used to have a lot of fun then. There were also department wise fests organised in our college. Students from neighboring colleges came to take part in them.

Fee Structure And Facilities

It was pretty affordable. The fee is fixed by the University for all colleges affiliated to it. The college wasn't expensive in comparison with other colleges. I could easily find the required amount and never had to avail any external funding for the purpose. So was it with my friends. They also provide really good facilities even with the low fee rates. As much as I remember, my fee was around 10000-15000 per year and that is very just for an undergraduate course.

Fees and Financial Aid

Maybe my college provided scholarships/loan, but I am not really aware of them. I hadn't been eligible for any such scholarships. Also, I didn't know of any SGTB scholarships so far. The college sometimes announced when government scholarships were available for economically backward students, otherwise, it didn't help us much, economically. The college did not help anyone in getting loans as it is a government college and they are not allowed to do so officially.

Campus Life

4.5

It was pretty good We had really great facilities in the campus for sports. The grounds and stadiums were awesome. So much so that in fact, the college had hosted the practice Rugby match in Commonwealth Games. That proves the awesomeness of these facilities. They really stress the need for physical exercises in students but does not impose this. Anyone who has enough interest is encouraged in plenty.

Hostel Facilities

4

My house was an hour away, so no hostel for me. I had friends who stayed in hostels. They all said the hostel was good. They had normal food and rooms there. Sharing a room between two or three students was the norm there. There were no PGs in or near the campus.

Alumni/Alumna

My interaction with my seniors in my college time was good. Now that, I am a pass out, I am still connected to some of my juniors. There were alumni meetings every year. The alumni association was really good. They supported pretty well in the development of the college. Once a while the prominent among them came to interact with students. I really used to enjoy these as it helped us to move in a focused manner.

Exam Structure

Nope, the exam culture wasn't bad at all. They gave us enough time to prepare for the exams. We used to have three examinations in a semester and only 5 exams in each of these. We did get days off between exams so there was enough time to prepare for them all. Timetables were all pre-announced and everything went as per those dates. Yes ,it could be called a chill-culture in my time, I don't know what is the situation now. Well, they are very strict about marks.

Faculty

4.5

They were the best teachers you could find. All of them had either an M Phil or a PhD at the very least. Most of them had great teaching experience. Others, though not so experienced, put all they had into teaching. We are all really happy to have them. Our department focused on both, the academic and the extra-curricular activities of students. So they encourage us a lot in everything we do. They are strict for the attendance and assignment submission but they also let us off to participate in all kinds of seminars and workshops that are arranged in college. I am really satisfied with the standards of teaching.

Placements are available in college, the drive is quite extensive, everyone is made aware of the choices and options and counselling is present too. It is from the third year, students are eligible to apply for placements. Companies and organisations take part such as Niti ayog, Times, Geostrata, Prajatantra foundation, etc. Those who desire usually work on their CVs, keep on doi internships and then get a placement. The packages are not that impressive to be honest.

The course is really very interesting. It keeps up with our expectations. Involves both practical and theoretical aspects to make sure that we are able to face the real world. Also, with the help of the guidance that we get from teachers we're able to ace both the aspects. The examinations also are based on applications, thus, helping us to enhance ourselves in all possibilities.

I got a seat in Ramjas College. It is a north-campus college. The infrastructure is too good compared to the remaining colleges. The teaching also going well but I faced some language problems. I'm from south India so I don't understand Hindi properly. But here mostly they teach in Hindi only and English is used very rarely.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course itself is prestigious and is mostly opted for by people who plan either on preparing for the Civil Services or those who want to pursue academia. The course structure is framed in a manner that you don't just simply study history there, but you ingrain a critical viewpoint of a young historian. The faculty of History Hons. has some of the best Professors in the University, although you will in any course at any college find some teachers below your expectations, you don't have to bear them for more than 1 or 2 semesters. Passing the exams is not very difficult, but yes scoring above average is. If you get a GPA ranging from 6 to 7, you've performed fine. Above that is considered a Very good performance in Hons. courses of Social sciences at Delhi University. there are semester exams every 5- 6 months
