Course Curriculum Overview
I basically took metallurgy because it sounded better than civil, the only other good option I had. It has a bad rep and everyone wants to change branch without giving it a chance. I think the curriculum for metallurgy is more in touch with the core that other circuital branches. The professors are strict but they love their subject mostly. All I'm saying is, don't discount it without an experience. Of course there are faults, but what branch doesn't!
Internships Opportunities
Many good internship opportunities are there on campus but circuital branches get more opportunities as they are not open for all. Google, JPMC, Goldman Sachs, Amazon, Graviton and other companies offer stipend pretty high about 1 lpm and evern more
Placement Experience
Campus placement scene is pretty good here in IIT Roorkee. We're eligible from 7th semester and a number of companies like Google microsoft Amazon Flipkart and all hire students. CG is important but only to an extent. Highest has gone to 2 cr. And average is pretty good. Around 20 lpa
Fees and Financial Aid
The tuition fee is 1 lakh and can be refundable to a great extent if you fall into the merit cum need category. There are awards for academic excellence and other all round development award. There will be many competitions held with cash prizes. I don't think campus employment is a big thing here but scholarships for both boys and especially girls help out a lot. Everything is communicated through a noticeboard
Campus Life
Roorkee has an excellent coding culture and most everyone will be learning code and different clubs like SDS, MDG,ACM etc promote this culture through various activities. Other than that the over-all academic pressure is not as high as Madras but I think that's a good thing-- not as many suicides. The cultural aspect is also rich with out amazing fests and all. Sports is a huge thing too with constant competitions and coaches.
Hostel Facilities
I live in Sarojini Bhawan girls hostel and it is a good hostel overall for price. The gym is really great and has been upgraded we'll recently. There are many facilities like a block fridge and iron. There is a gym coach for weekdays and computer lab. Ofc the wifi is great. The food and 24 hr canteens and just a bonus overall.
Admission
I got into IIT Roorkee throught JEE Advanced exam like everyone else. I am a girl so I got the rank benefit and was able to get top 6 IIT. Admission through Josaa is a bit lengthy and annoying but there are various places like college dunia they help us gain a better perspective
