Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

The curriculum is approved by DG shipping and complied with Marine industry requirements. We are made tough to handle any kind of stress at sea. 1at year has basic subjects and subjects which are not linked to sailing are also taught to make us fit for outer world too like coding electronics etc. In 8th semester there is only internship and no theory class so it goes like this on 4 years. They should give us some time for self development also.

Internships Opportunities

4.5

The internship opportunities are not provided before 7th semester and trainee Marine engineering is done .y all cadets after degree completion and going on board. Salary given then is appx 2.5 lakh for 6 months.

Placement Experience

4.5

Some elite students get placement in 2nd year, most get in 3rd years and leftovers get in 4th year. The companies visited are SCI, MSC, NYK, Wan hai lines , delos, delta corps, Chevron, BP, etc and offers made are10 lakh from 4th engineer which comes after completing tme period and clearing meo class4 exams. All packages are almost same in this industry and difference lies in ships types and conditions. Placement is about 90 percent. I am planning to sail after completion of degree.

Fees and Financial Aid

The campus fees is 11 lakh for 4 years which include all charges from tution to hostel and later certificate charges are also included. In campus employment is not possible as we don't get enough time for that and hostel is compulsory as part of training. It is tier 2 college so loans from all banks are easily available. The course is expensive but its worth it because machines and simulatiors used here are too expensive.

Campus Life

4.5

The biggest fest held is tempest in February which is biggest Marine fest of Asia. There are other literature and technical events too and different sports events. Library is large and has many books related to shipping. There are groups like sainyatri writers club etc. The social life is also nice as Cadets are always together to enjoy.

Admission

You should pass 12th PCM with minimum 60% and 60% score in English in either 10 or 12. Exam conducted is IMUCET for entering in merchant Navy. Application form is out nearly in April May and fees is about 1000. Yes there is cast reservation and seats for some special states. Exam is conducted yearly and not so tough but syllabus is vast as it contains maths physics chemistry gat and English. They can also include any personality test.

Placement Experience:

The campus placements happen in final year of the course. There is a well established placement cell to conduct the on-campus placements. Many well renowned companies visit our college namely Microsoft, Google, TI, TSL, PWC, ICICI, ABG. L&T, etc. The highest package was 50LPA and the average was around 9LPA. Over 90% students got placed from across every department and details of the placement is also available in the college official website. I have gotten a job from the on-campus drive to a core company.

The placements of our college are below average. Studies for placement are more or less relevant from second semester. companies like tcs, amazon etc do visit our campus however very few are selected with package above 4-5 LPA. Most of the students seek out for higher studies and that's my plan too.

It's my decision from class 12 that I will do civil engineering, so I chose the civil branch, the course curriculum is well and the teaching level is good but the main problem is lab, there is very limited classes for lab, so I think they should improve there.

After the 6th semester, the students are eligible for placements. Mass recruiters like TCS, Wipro, Infosys, Accenture, Capgemini, etc visit every year and pick up 80-100 students per company. Other companies like Amazon, Thoughtworks, Etc also visit the college. The highest package offered by our college is 15LPA by Thoughtworks. Every year around 75-80% of students get placed on campus. I plan to get a good job work for 2-3 years and then apply for Masters. Overall the placement is very nice in this college.
