Course Curriculum Overview

• For starter the course provides one of the most disciplined curriculum • The preparation for real world applications in this case which will be seafarer, is quite compatible in this curriculum • For improvement in course curriculum more practical subjects can be added • one internal every month for first two month and a semester final all of which are of midium difficulty exam

Internships Opportunities

• Many companies such as Pacific basin, Anglo eastern, NYK, Chevron, etc companies offer paid internship • The project are simply sailing as trainee Marine engineer in their ships for a contracted time and the pay is normally around Rs.50000/-

Fees and Financial Aid

• No specified tution fee increase policy or regularity of such hikes • Complete cost of education including tution, service fees, and other compulsory charges comes around Rs.1150000/- only • There are scholarship and financial aid for well behaved student and academically successful student • There is a placement cell responsible for employment of students

Campus Life

•Yearly fest named TEMPEST is held typically in the month of February which includes technical, cultural and sports event • Journals and books can be browsed by everyone with a library card • The books and journals includes but not limited to recent famous scientist journals, all time famous journals like nature etc, books an various academics including geophysics, astrophysics, Marine environment, etc. • Each classroom has its projector system, air conditioning,etc. •Various sports like football, cricket, hockey, badminton, volleyball, basketball, swimming, table tennis, snooker are available • Student run various group like robotics group, dance group, band, parade, etc

Admission

• Eligibility - 12th or similar exam pass - medically fit declared by DGS approved doctor - IMU CET exam qualified • Application form can be found in imu website • Reservation available • Once a year in middle of June the exam is conducted. - difficulty is slightly lower than nta exams but similar to upsc exams • Overall the admission process is good

I don't have idea about the placements since I'm in first year now. But I talked to a senior and got to know that many got multiple offers in 4th year. I also head that packages are around 4 lpa which is a decent and also a rise than the previous year.

The summary of my four years in one of the oldest colleges in India

Placement Experience:

The campus placements happen in final year of the course. There is a well established placement cell to conduct the on-campus placements. Many well renowned companies visit our college namely Microsoft, Google, TI, TSL, PWC, ICICI, ABG. L&T, etc. The highest package was 50LPA and the average was around 9LPA. Over 90% students got placed from across every department and details of the placement is also available in the college official website. I have gotten a job from the on-campus drive to a core company.

Placement Experience:

The placements of our college are below average. Studies for placement are more or less relevant from second semester. companies like tcs, amazon etc do visit our campus however very few are selected with package above 4-5 LPA. Most of the students seek out for higher studies and that's my plan too.

Placement Experience:

After the 6th semester, the students are eligible for placements. Mass recruiters like TCS, Wipro, Infosys, Accenture, Capgemini, etc visit every year and pick up 80-100 students per company. Other companies like Amazon, Thoughtworks, Etc also visit the college. The highest package offered by our college is 15LPA by Thoughtworks. Every year around 75-80% of students get placed on campus. I plan to get a good job work for 2-3 years and then apply for Masters. Overall the placement is very nice in this college.

Good for placements, excellent hostel life and good to learn, apply and fun. A college for all round development.

I have searched for many other colleges but i chose this because it is the oldest marine engineering college and has a benchmark legacy, and this college has shaped the merchant navy of the nation. It has been known for producing the finest marine engineers. I preffered marine engineering over other courses because this is a type of training that ensures your wholesome development.
