Course Curriculum Overview

The curriculum has a wide range of interesting subjects. The curriculum prepares me for real world shipping industry. There are 8 semester exams in the full curriculum each in a semester related to the semester syllabus

Each company which come here for placement provide us with internship or cadetship opportunities We serve as a trainee marine engineer for the company for 6 months and then we are eligible for giving coc exams

From 3rd semester onwards students are eligible for placement Many companies visit the campus for placement like NYK Lines, CHEVRON ship management,Shell ship management, Scorpio Tankers,Torm Tankers,Dianacom Tankers& many more

Fees and Financial Aid

Tution fees does not increase regularly.It increase once in 10 years Complete cost of my course is 1100000 including hostel,mess, uniform,Books and other charges There is not any scholarship for students

Tempest is the annual fest of our college which is held during February every year which is Asia's largest marine fest All kinds of books are available in the library and we are also provided with our semester books every semester

You are not allowed to stay outside the college premises College provides you seperate hostel each year Hostel are good,each room consists of bed almirah table and fan Mess meal quality is not so good but eatable

Admission

I had given IMUCET-23 exam for taking admission into this premier institute. Eligibility criteria for this exam was 60%in 12th PCM &50% in 10th English. Application fee was 1200 The difficulty level of this exam was not too much

I don't have idea about the placements since I'm in first year now. But I talked to a senior and got to know that many got multiple offers in 4th year. I also head that packages are around 4 lpa which is a decent and also a rise than the previous year.

The summary of my four years in one of the oldest colleges in India

Placement Experience:

The campus placements happen in final year of the course. There is a well established placement cell to conduct the on-campus placements. Many well renowned companies visit our college namely Microsoft, Google, TI, TSL, PWC, ICICI, ABG. L&T, etc. The highest package was 50LPA and the average was around 9LPA. Over 90% students got placed from across every department and details of the placement is also available in the college official website. I have gotten a job from the on-campus drive to a core company.

Placement Experience:

The placements of our college are below average. Studies for placement are more or less relevant from second semester. companies like tcs, amazon etc do visit our campus however very few are selected with package above 4-5 LPA. Most of the students seek out for higher studies and that's my plan too.

Placement Experience:

After the 6th semester, the students are eligible for placements. Mass recruiters like TCS, Wipro, Infosys, Accenture, Capgemini, etc visit every year and pick up 80-100 students per company. Other companies like Amazon, Thoughtworks, Etc also visit the college. The highest package offered by our college is 15LPA by Thoughtworks. Every year around 75-80% of students get placed on campus. I plan to get a good job work for 2-3 years and then apply for Masters. Overall the placement is very nice in this college.

Good for placements, excellent hostel life and good to learn, apply and fun. A college for all round development.

I have searched for many other colleges but i chose this because it is the oldest marine engineering college and has a benchmark legacy, and this college has shaped the merchant navy of the nation. It has been known for producing the finest marine engineers. I preffered marine engineering over other courses because this is a type of training that ensures your wholesome development. DMET- Who Is Making a Skilled Engineers

My college ( IMU Kolkata Campus) also known as DMET is one of the best marine engineering college from all over the world because here we learn how to handle bad situations, discipline and creates the eco friendly environment in between the senior and juniors as well as the batchmates and help each other in difficult times.
