Course Curriculum Overview
This course is focused on marine Engineering and help us to make a career in Merchant navy. It provides a vast experience in seas and ocean for the seafarers along with our engineering course which involves maintenance of engines at ship. It provides you world class experience of life at sea and prepares you for your future endeavours and hardship at sea. This course tests one's mental and physical toughness as well. This is a very well established course and according to me doesn't need any improvements or change in teaching method. The IMUCET exam is held once a year and it's difficulty is moderate with all the PCM questions on 10+2 level.

Top recruiting companies are NYC, Maersk, Chevron, Pacific Basin, Gulf Energy, Elite Maritime, Mitsui OSK Lines, Evergas Shipping, Chellaram Shipping, British Marine, Dynacom Tankers, Anglo Eastern, and Chenmar. All the companies offer us the job of a TME ( Technical Marine Engineer) onboard.
Placement Experience
Students are epegible every year depending on their academic performance and other basis on Behalf of which they are selected. The mass placements occur at the third year and fourth year. There are numerous companies such as Tom tankers, Chevron, synergy, fleet management etc which come to our college every year for offering placements. Till the third and the fourth year around 80-90% of students get placed, the rest are placed in the mean time. My plans after getting degree are to sail for almost 7-8 years till I become Chief engineer and then start my own business.
Fees and Financial Aid
There is no such increase in tuition fees of this course which is 11,00,000 in total. This includes your tuition fees, hostel fee, accommodation, food and every other facility provided at the hostel. At every year, the top ranked holders are placed as the companies are invited to the campus every year and select the desired candidates on the basis of interviews and marks. The cadets here have many responsibilities from maintaining discipline to fowwing it.
Campus Life
There are various annual and technical festivals held here one with the main fest that is held at this college is know as Tempest. It's a very popular fest and various college all over India participate in this. It's held in the month of February. The classrooms are well maintained with proper ventilation facilities and smart board for ppt presentations, with projector rooms, ac ducts etc. The facilities are very adequate and sufficient for a student here. This college focuses deliberately on sports for the personality and overall enhancement of one's life. Various sports ranging from football, basketball, hockey, swimming, volleyball etc are provided with well maintained courts and pools which are regular maintained. IMU likely has various student-run social groups, clubs, and student portals that contribute significantly to student life. These groups often cover diverse interests such as sports, culture, hobbies, and professional development. They provide opportunities for networking
Hostel Facilities
There are specific hostels for every year with all the proper facilities. The accommodations are different for different years ranging from 6 people in a room to single bedrooms hostel. There are windows for proper ventilation with 6-7 water coolers at every hostel for the students. The mess is situated itself in every hostel and serves breakfast, lunch, snacks and dinner to everyone. The registration for hostel is not done separately it is included in the overall registration process. I didn't have to rent any PG.
Admission
The Indian Maritime University (IMU) is a central university under the Ministry of Shipping, Govt. of India. Admissions to the various UG and PG programmes offered by IMU and its affiliated institutes will be done through IMU Common Entrance Test (CET) usually conducted in May/ June by the university. To apply for IMU CET, the registration fee is INR 1000 for General candidates and INR 700 for Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribe candidates. • For admission to B.Tech and B.Sc, the candidate must have passed 10+2 with minimum 60% marks in PCM taken together. In case of BBA, the candidate should have passed 10+2 in any discipline with minimum 60% marks. For M.Sc and MBA admission, the candidate must possess Bachelor's Degree in any discipline with min All the details regarding the application fees,form and date are mentioned on the college website and other websites such as CollegeDunia. This exam IMUCET is held once a year and according to me it's quite basic and at moderate level.
Interview Experience
There was no such group discussion or panel interview after the selection procedure. But we had a common test pattern that is we went through an offline test IMUCET on the basis of which we got admission to this college. To apply for IMU CET, the registration fee is INR 1000 for General candidates and INR 700 for Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribe candidates. • For admission to B. Tech and B.Sc, the candidate must have passed 10+2 with minimum 60% marks in PCM taken together. • In case of BBA, the candidate should have passed 10+2 in any discipline with minimum 60% marks. • For M.Sc and MBA admission, the candidate must possess Bachelor's Degree in any discipline with minimum 50% marks. • Candidates are shortlisted for all the courses (except BBA) on the basis of IMU CET scores. I went through various interviews lecture and focused on my academic work for the selections.
