Course Curriculum Overview
The course included 3 core subjects of Geography with a General Elective- a subject considered out of all other subjects available in the college, Ability Enhancement Courses inc. Hindi and EVS, Skill Enhancement and Vallur Addition Courses, which have an application in the real world. Geography Hons. as a course is very useful with practical subjects such as Cartography, Statistics, GIS and also some Theoretical Courses such as Geomorphology and Urban Geography to enhance our knowledge in the field of Geography. The exams are descriptive, questions are repeated every year and we have to write the answers in description to gain more marks.
Internships Opportunities
Can't answer this as being in 1st year I don't have any idea of college placements and internships if any available by course. As mentioned earlier, you could look out for other reviews answering the same question.
Placement Experience
Not much ideas about that as I myself am in the 1st year but there may be many seniors out there having review in this website so do look for other reviews as well but most students in this course aim for UPSC or other gov. exams and the college is a bridge for them to reach their goal. Some go to the field of GIS after graduation and do masters in geoinformatics in other universities like Symiosis Institute of Geoinformatics having good placement opportunities.
Fees and Financial Aid
Typically 14,000 for me was nothing as compared to the PG cost in Delhi so scholarship wasn't a necessity for most of the students. But the college still provides scholarship to the students based on some criteria which waives off the fees for whole year so you could go for it. Also Living cost here, depends upon person to person like if you live in a flat with no other amenities, you could only pay 3-4kpm doing all the chores yourself while you could rent a PG with rent ranging from ~8k to 30k depending on your needs. The societies here in offer various posts which are a prime source of experience in college and do take part in the societal roles to gain merit in your resume!
Campus Life
The DU College fests are open to all students of Delhi and if you're a student of KMC, you can always go to fests of Hansraj, Hindu and even private universities like Amity and Manipal!! All classes have an AC and all the equipments needed for practical classes but there may be lack of desks and benches as DU admits more students than the capacity of a course. Sports and extracurricular activities are a main part of KMC and you'll get many opportunities to take part in the activities! There are many clubs and societies in the college. One for dancing, for singing, Environment-related, Entrepreneurship -related, Cinema-rekated and many more so take part in these societies!!
Admission
For getting into the best Geography college in DU, The best university of India was a dream for me! I gave CUET after my board exams in which we give exams of at least 3 domain subjects such as Geography, History, Political Science, Economics, etc and a Language subject such as English or Hindi. So an aggregate score out of 800 is taken in consideration and DU allots the best of students in the preferred colleges. Some courses may have eligibility such as including Maths or other Science subjects but mine had none. Also I had reservation benifits as I got into the college by OBC quota in a score of 745/800 while the General list started from ~755. Also after filling the application form of DU, make sure to put your preferences in the right manner. KMC was my 1st preference and so I got allotted in it. Best of luck!!
