Course Curriculum Overview
The course of Btech Marine Engineering in IMU Kolkata is a pretty systematic and comprehensive one. It prepares us with all the hardships, machines and technologies that we will face in the maritime world. It consists excellent faculty who are best in their individual fields. There are regular exams conducted to test the competency of the students. It has overall a decent curriculum structure.
Internships Opportunities
The companies which offer internships to the cadets go onboard on their 8th and last semester... it's also known as their pre sea training which makes them more familiar to the environment in which they will work in their future.
Placement Experience
The placement of IMU Kolkata is quite good. In the year 2022 the placement was around 99%. There are rputed companies like Chevron, Shell, Scorpio which comes to the campus for recruiting. The highest packages was 250000 last year.
Fees and Financial Aid
The whole course is divided into 8 semesters and the fees of each semester is 122500 rs. The financial assistance are more for the lady cadets where they are given scholarship and they have some privileges in the placement. The overall placement scenario of the college is good.
Campus Life
The first year of a Cadet here is the best part of his life and it is made sure by the seniors that all the officers like qualities are inculcated in him/ her. There are certain cultural as well as technical events held in the campus like TEMPEST, LITHOSPHERE.etc. Every morning students are made to do physical training thus maintaining their physique along with academics.
Hostel Facilities
The hostel facilities are just like any other government college. It's not like a five star hotel but enough for the Cadets to maintain a prper and hygienic lifestyle. The quality of the food is decent and there are new dishes made every 2 or 3 months. Also it has recreational areas like table tennis, pool, etc.
Admission
The admission procedure checks certain eligibilities such as pcm percentage should be above 60% and one should have a decent rank in the IMUCET. IMUCET is a competitive examof 2 hrs that tests the basic general concept of science and analysis in a student. Also, the reservation is there for SC, ST and OBC which help them in getting admission as there is separate quota for them.
