Course Curriculum Overview
The curriculum of Marine Engineering includes study and research of different marine-related topics. It prepares an individual for life at sea and makes the best out of him. Exams are per the normal schedule of any other engineering college. The degree is of 4 years with 8 semesters.
Placement Experience
Companies start visiting campus for placement in 3rd semester and the top rankers are made to sit for the interview and selection process. Recent Campus placement was 100% and almost all are placed by the end of the 8th semester. Top shipping companies of the world like Chevron, NYK, Anglo Eastern, Dyanacom, Fleet Management, and Pacific Basin are regular recruiters.
Fees and Financial Aid
The programme is 4 years residential programme that has a fee of INR 2,75,000 per year. A year is divided into two semesters and each semester has fee of INR 1,22,500 and programme fee of INR 30,000 once a year. Scholarships are provided to the lady cadets by different shipping companies.
Campus Life
The college arranges the biggest marine fest of Asia - Tempest and other events to encourage cadets' participation. The library has a vast variety of marine-related books from innovation and technologies to the history of the marine shipping industry also magazines, journals, and research papers are available. Classrooms are well maintained, AC rooms, are ventilated, and provide perfect environment for studying.
Hostel Facilities
There are 4 Hostels for different years. Hostels are neat and clean and daily maintained. Quality of food is descent and healthy. The menu is fixed for the days of the week and food is always provided according to that. Both veg and no-veg food is provided for all.
Admission
After completion of your 12th just like any other entrance, you have to appear for IMU-CET exam which is conducted by Indian Maritime University. Registrations are open between April and May and the exam is conducted in June. The exam consists of PCM, English, and General knowledge and aptitude. The application form becomes available on the official website of Indian Maritime University and the application fee is INR 700 for SC/ST and INR 1000 for other categories.
