- Class room and Lab facilities are really good.
- Very beautifull campus. Whenever you feel stressed you can roam around your campus and relax.
- I liked the library. Its really huge and very comfortable to study there with all the books and facilites.
Dislikes
- Mess food is horrible. You need to pay 18,000 per semester for this terrible mess food.
- Rooms are congested. You can get single room from 3 third year onward only.
- You can't play games on the college WiFi. Atleast they should have given some time limit to play.
Course Curriculum Overview
In mechanical most of the courses are very application based. There are many labs too, which makes it more interesting. All the subjects taught are applicable in real world. You can go for higher studies or also find a job after the graduation. Most are the subjects are easy to understand and score in exams. If some of the professors do the teaching more interestingly then i can bet that this is the best course.
Internships Opportunities
There are several companies like Google, Amazon, Microsoft, Oracle.. etc that takes intern from the third students every year. They pays you sipend upto 10 lakhs. Almost interested students get internship during their third year.
Placement Experience
IIT guwahati has 80 persent placement record each year with avg package of 18 lakh. Last year a student got an international offer of 2.4 cr. Companies like amazon, google ,microsoft,golman sach and many more comes to pick inter and also for place ment. With most number of stundent placed in microsoft(28 placed). Campus interships opportunities are open for third year UG students and students can sit for placement interview at there fourth year.Some people are also offered PPO during there internship.
Fees and Financial Aid
As an ST category student i get full tution fee wavier. It is same for SC and and for the OBC and General students with lower family income. In general the tution fees including hostel and mess is 1,50,000 rs per semester. with tution fees wavier we pay 30000 rs per semester. IITs offer many scholarships some of them are Merit cum Means Scholarship (MCM), Free Basic Messing, and pocket allowances. You can find many private Scholarships also. If you study in an IIT it is very easy to get any private or goverment Scholarship. So, it is very much affordable to study in an IIT.
Campus Life
There are many cultural, sports and tech events held in IIT Guwahati. Like Alcheringa annual cultural fest, Spardha annual inter hostel sports meet, Spirit is also a sports meet where all the college from whole Northeast India comes to participate at our college, Udgam annual E - summit. and many more. There are also Inter IIT meets for Sports,Culture and Tech . In these meets all the IITs of India compete against each other. To make your campus life more enjoying you can also join various clubs run by the students. There are robotics , dancing ,racing, film making, photography..etc. These clubs really help you to keep in touch with your hobby along with your academic.
Hostel Facilities
At hostel you get full facilities from WiFi- Lan to washing machine,Gym, Music room,Tv Room and games room too. But there are some issues. Those are , firstly, two students should stay in a single room which makes some room really congested. Secondly the mess food is terrible. For mess you need to give 18,000 rs deposit for a semester. For Room and facilities it is about 5000 rs. It is affordable.
Admission
The admission process to IIT Guwahati for b.tech courses involves applying through the official website of NTA for JEE main and JEE Advanced exams .As an ST category student which i secured ST rank 517 in JEE Advanced.Two phases of jee main in a year and for JEE advance exam duration of 6hrs in a day conducted in 3 hrs each.
