NIT Patna an overview from an insider

The course curriculum for CSE department is relatively new and scaled to industry standards .It focuses on major technologies like web development ,cyber security , network security and DBMS which is very helpful. The curriculum also focuses on communicative english and helping the studenta to become better speakers so as to prepare them for the real world. The only area of improvement in the curriculum should be in regards to the old subjects being taught like engineering physics and engineering chemistry in the 1st and 2nd semester. If they could focus there ,the curriculum would be amazing. We have two exams in each semester ,mid semester and end semester. Both the exams hold weightage of 30% and 70% respectively. Mid semester is conducted in the 3rd month after the start of the semester and end semester is conducted in the 5th month after the start of the semester.

I am in 1st year so i have not bagged an internship But according to student portals about 85 % of the Cse students bag a paid internship. The projects they do is mostly of web development and android development along with good understanding of dsa.

Students become eligible for campus placements after 6th semester and internship opportunities after 4th semester. All the major companies like google,microsoft ,cred , adobe , amazon , Atlassian visit our campus and provide a handsome amount of job offers . The highest placement offer for 2022-23 batch was 52 Lpa given by cred , 48 lpa given by google , 45 lpa by microsoft, 39 lpa by atlassian and various other offers. The average package for cse was 14.3 lpa and that for overall was 8.9 lpa About 100% of the eligible students from Cse department were placed and about 80% from overall branches. After getting my degree i would like to pursue a job in a mnc .

It is a government institute so the rate of increase of tution fees is not very high and it increases as per central laws. Currently the tution fees has not changed for the past few years . My complete cost of education here is currently Tution fees : 62500 per semester(including service fees and other compulsory charges) Hostel and mess fees : 18000 + 24000 per semester The college ensures all the scholarships and aids available for the students by the central and state government schemes. One of my friends actually received the Reliance Scholarship of 2 lakh rupees ( 50000 each year) I am still in my 1st year so i have not received placement yet but the placements here are better than average with median salary being 8.9 Lpa . Cse average being 14.3 lpa.

Technical and annual festivals : Corona & Melange , TCF ( Techno Cultural fest) they are held usually in december, Intramurals sports tournament held in January and february and many other club activities throughout the year The library here holds insane amounts of book . The library here consists of three floors filled with books and journals with good number lf seats for the students to study . Our institute also has book bank to ensure help to the needy Our college holds all the required labs and technologies for our smooth study . It has multiple computer labs which can hold 500 students at once and multiple workshops and tinkering labs. The classrooms are a bit old since the college is over a 100 years old but the new buildings have better classrooms with ACs and smartboards. Our college has three indoor badminton courts , a kabaddi mat , basketball court , volleyball court, two cricket practice nets, one ground for football and cricket. Moreover it also has a squash court .

Eligibility: You must secure a rank under JEE Mains The application form , application fees and application dates are all released through JOSAA counselling Reservation benefits: NIT Patna offers all the reservations as ordered by the government and provides special focus to female reservation The difficulty of getting admissions is high but not very difficult if you study consistently The cutoff for Computer Science and engineering branch is usually above 98.5 percentile for general category students The admission process was very smooth and the staffs were friendly in helping those who were confused and didn't know what to do .The only down-side was that there wasn't any line management or queue system being followed
