So to begin with , I opt for BTech in marine engineering which was completely a new field for me while I was researching , and for this course Indian Maritime University Kolkata campus is one of the right decision established in August 1949 .The faculty here is well experienced in their respective field . some of the faculties are from shipping industry as well which helps in understanding real life ship experiences

Many companies provide scholarship to the cadets in different. different areas which helps them to boost their knowledge , experience and it build a sense of confidence among them . All this internship opportunities provides certificate to the cadets which helps them to build a nice CV

So the placement starts from 2nd semester . The placement here is pretty good for girls there is 100% placement and for boys it's 85% .many foreign and Indian companies comes to the university for hiring cadets onboard the highest package was 90000 and the lowest for trainee marine engineer 60000 .the plan after getting the degree is to work onboard as a TME

The Campus and this particular course focuses on the discipline of the cadets and are well trained for their further life onboard The workshop at imu kolkata is asia's largest marine workshop and is well acute with different machines which will be helpful for the cadets when they will be onboard There are many sports for the cadets to distract them from their normal life to enjoy some time while persuing their hobbies You will get all kinds of book here in Library .

There will be maximum 3 cadets in one big room every one get their seperate beds study table and almirah the mess is inside the hostel building only .the overall course fee includes mess and hostel fee as well .

So if you opt for science stream (non med ) in your 11th standard then you can look forward for this and you require overall 65% in your 12 th board . Every year a common enterance test is conducted for the same i.e IMUCET . To apply for the same you can visit the IMU official website where you can go through the tad bit of the details and information regarding this , you can apply for the IMUCET exam from the website itself . this exam is conducted once in a year during June July and it is easy to medium on scale of difficulty level .please apply for the passport before hand otherwise you might face several difficulties
