Course Curriculum Overview
College follows the standard B.Tech curriculum. First year mostly has common subjects like physics and chemistry. Labs are good and well equipped with proper requirements. Internet connection is also good, only on LAN though. From second year the subjects would be specialised according to your stream. Curriculum is same outdated syllabus as every other college and the student has to prepare on thier own. However a few teachers who are in placement department do give good guidance and will help you with on and off campus recruitments as well. The schedule of classes is very hectic and consumes a lot of time specially till 2nd year. After second year they will get a bit relaxed. Every two months you can expect to have your mid or end semester exams , although overall the difficulty is not much and one week before the exams is usually enough to prepare
Placement Experience
Till third year very few companies have come for interships and you have to apply yourself offcampus. Also there is a major problem of diversity hiring so there are even less oppurtunities for boys. However the placement cell is really active and if you want put in the effort yourself they will help you wiht the placements overall. Placement wise there are some good and exceptional packages, but the crowd is very much for those oppurtunities and most people end up placed in mass recuiting companies with 3-5 lakh package. Last year the highest package offered was 84 lpa by atlassian, which was off campus. But a few companies like amazon, adobe and Zscaler do come to the campus with high packages.
Fees and Financial Aid
Fees for computer science is more than any other branch. You can expect to pay around 3 lakh per year inculsive of all the charges. Fess for every year is about 5% more than the previous, however this is already stated while joining and no hikes are perfomed after admission other than the already mentioned fees in the brochure. There is also a 10% discount if you pay the whole fees anually whihc reduced to 5% if payed half yearly. Other than that you will get a scholarship based on your boards and JEE marks mostly the cutoff is 80% and above for boards and 90 percentile for JEE although it changes every year. Apart from this you are expected to pay a one time of around 20k for uniform from the college itself, which you can easily skip if you know what to do.
Campus Life
There are 1 or 2 major fests every year , mostly summer fest and grafest. Grafest includes a lot of good celebrities, but the midset of people is orthodox and girls and boys are separted for the events. Apart form this there are activites and various clubs if you are interested and they also give you attendace relaxation for the same. Classrooms from 3rd sem have fully touch screen boards and projector as well. Most labs are also good, with AC and good internet connectivity. The college clubs are active but not very impactful and mostly its the same events every year.Library has various books but there is a limit of upto 6-7 books which gets fulfilled with coursebooks only.
Admission
The admission process was simple and straightforward. I had to visit the office and submit the my 10th 12th marksheets and put down a deposit which was around 10k (I was not sure I would take this college only so I did not pay the whole fees right away) .This was later added back to my fees. There are 4 campus GEU Dehradun, GEHU Doon, GEHU Bhimtal and GEHU Haldawni. The Hill campuses (GEHU) also have a Uttarakhand reservation on top of scholarship, while deemed campus only has scholarship. They have a scholarship criteria which usually starts from 80 percent in boards (or 90+ percentile in JEE) and accordingly they tell you if you would be admissable into Deemed University based on available seats. If the seats are less they offer you to take up Hill University.
