Course Curriculum Overview
The course curriculum has recently changed which explores various fields in the industry like naval architecture, ship construction, computer science, rather than just marine engineering. Exams occum in each 5 months.
Internships Opportunities
We can get internships at different ports all over India with the recommendation letter from the campus. It is mostly for learning experience and not for the stipend. But there are some ports which provides minimum stipend to the cadets
Placement Experience
Placement starts from second year and on an average, more than 85% of the cadets get placed each year. Companies like chevron, NYK, wilhelmsen, fleet management, Scorpio, Torm, Wallem come to our college. Most of the cadets will be sailing after the course and some options for defense and civil service.
Fees and Financial Aid
The 225000 for an year include 2 semester fees which includes hostel feed, food, wifi, education fee, laundry etc except the exam fees which has to be paid seperately. Girls get an annual scholarship of 100000 from DG shipping and there are several other merit scholarships. There are several student borne clubs and platforms which are quite an experience
Campus Life
Tempest is the annual fest of the college and it mostly occurs in March. We have a great library which is currently expanding There are many clubs and student handled association which provides great exposure to the cadets Various sports like volleyball, football, basketball, hockey, cricket, table tennis , badminton is provided.
Hostel Facilities
It is a residential college and we will get double or triple occupancy rooms. Food and accommodation charges are already included in the fees. Food is comparatively good and is renewable. Sports and gym facilities are attached with the hostels.
Admission
You should have 60% minimum in class 12 and then apply for imucet exam. It's advisable to get rank below 1500 to get a seat in IMU Kolkata. There is no interview. The admission is based on the ranks in IMU CET exam
Faculty
There are enough faculties, like more than 1 faculty for each subject. They are experienced marine engineers ar IIT passouts. Highly skilled trainers with a great workshop for the students to gain a hands on experience.
