Course Curriculum Overview

5

The course curriculum in chinese is quite old but it helps . Like it in not divided in HSK chinese level and is mixed but helps in understanding the subject matter and the implications of it. It prepares us for translation, for real life conversations and formal or informal meeting etc. Exams are conducted every month and all of them hold weightage. So it is compulsory to attend them. The marks of best of 2 are added. The level of difficulty varies from time to time.

Internships Opportunities

5

Till now I have not taken up any internship as my academics are hectic and I barely get any time but i am hoping soon. So I cannot give any idea regarding that. But i have heard from seniors that when India China relations were better, Chinese embassy used to hire students .

Placement Experience

5

From third year itself companies starts visiting the campus. Chinese companies like Oppo and Vivo often recruit from chinese centre. They often require translators and interpreters, so it always some MNC with business regarding China or in China. Most of them pay really well. Most of the students gets accepted. People in JNU are more in academia than corporate so people rather go for masters and PhD. My plan is to appear for CAT and do MBA.

Fees and Financial Aid

Tuition fee is bare minimum. Probably 118 rupees per semester. And there are no other charges except hostel and mess fee. At the time of your admission in the hostel they charge around 6k out of which i guess 50% is refundable and then mess bill comes around 3-4k which is not a lot . But still a scholarship programme called MCM is there which aids 2k per month for underprivileged students or low income students. Over-all you cannot find such quality education in this amount anywhere in the country. Placement is quite good both in bachelors and masters students are being paid around 12 lpa CTC as freshers after graduating from our centre which is still a lot.

Campus Life

5

JNU do not have a lot of fests, most of them are cultural program and seminars . Cultural program also happens once in a blue moon because of hectic academic schedule. However seminar and conferences are quite common and actually more useful than fests as you get to interact with scholars around the world. Our Chinese centre celebrates Spring Festival each other and that is the only known celebration. Apart from that this year Chinese Centre completed it 50 year so we had a cultural program to honour that.

Hostel Facilities

4

Hostel are decent for the fact that you almost live here for free. Meals are also decent not very good neither bad, but for the price it is so much better that private institutions who charge a lot still offers bad food. For the amount of money , food is good. There are few criteria for hostel allotment and you must fulfill it. You won't get a hostel if you're a local. You can certainly rent a PG or a Room in Munirka.

Admission

I got into JNU via CUET. I scored 95 percentile in CUET which is enough to get into any desired course. Everything is there on JNU's website, once you clear your CUET exams you can immediately apply for JNU . Reservation is there for OBC, SC , ST and EWS. You have to clear General Test and English paper in order to get into JNU , the general test is not very hard , and english is also quite basic, with a bit of practice you can easily excel this. The admission process is quite exhausting cause it takes almost 2 days to finalise all kinds of document verification and all. Other than it the only problem is that you don't get hostel immediately and it takes time to get accomodation inside the campus. Various political parties are present there to help you with your documents which is a good thing.

Faculty

5

There are 30/40 students in per class and each class gets almost 5 professors for each subject. They are extremely well educated. Most of them are PhD holders, a few of them have MPhil. They're well learned and have written books. One of our professors have recieved the highest literary award in China. So you can imagine their credentials. Most of the professors teach well and really care about your progress just like in school. Our professors spare time for us after class if we ever want to meet them . Most of them are really understanding and cool.

The course curriculum is a bit too theoretical and less practical. The exams in the college takes places every month which are seasonals and are for internal marking and then we have semester exams in every 6 months which accounts for the external marking.

Placement Experience:

Placements are available in college, the drive is quite extensive, everyone is made aware of the choices and options and counselling is present too. It is from the third year, students are eligible to apply for placements. Companies and organisations take part such as Niti ayog, Times, Geostrata, Prajatantra foundation, etc. Those who desire usually work on their CVs, keep on doi internships and then get a placement. The packages are not that impressive to be honest.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course is really very interesting. It keeps up with our expectations. Involves both practical and theoretical aspects to make sure that we are able to face the real world. Also, with the help of the guidance that we get from teachers we're able to ace both the aspects. The examinations also are based on applications, thus, helping us to enhance ourselves in all possibilities.

I got a seat in Ramjas College. It is a north-campus college. The infrastructure is too good compared to the remaining colleges. The teaching also going well but I faced some language problems. I'm from south India so I don't understand Hindi properly. But here mostly they teach in Hindi only and English is used very rarely.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course itself is prestigious and is mostly opted for by people who plan either on preparing for the Civil Services or those who want to pursue academia. The course structure is framed in a manner that you don't just simply study history there, but you ingrain a critical viewpoint of a young historian. The faculty of History Hons. has some of the best Professors in the University, although you will in any course at any college find some teachers below your expectations, you don't have to bear them for more than 1 or 2 semesters. Passing the exams is not very difficult, but yes scoring above average is. If you get a GPA ranging from 6 to 7, you've performed fine. Above that is considered a Very good performance in Hons. courses of Social sciences at Delhi University. there are semester exams every 5- 6 months
