Course Curriculum Overview

3.5

The course curriculum is accurate according to the subjects provided in the course and the exam questions are also based on the topics covered in the classroom. An ample amount of time is given to complete the exam and almost every student is able to attempt all the questions to their best knowledge in the given time. I felt that I had a firm grip on the English Language and felt that it would be in my favour to opt for English Honours as a course and This was the best college under GGSIPU for this particular course.

Placement Experience

1.5

The College doesn't offer many placements to the students of BA English Honours as it's not really a degree which will land you a good job on it's own. There were few companies who were interested but the highest package was of 4 LPA only, so you can get the condition of the college placement for English Honours students. Almost no student got placement from college in my department so the percentage of students getting placements in my opinion is 0%, My plans after getting the degree is to pursue MA in English from the same college as the faculty here is good.

Fees and Financial Aid

The tuition fee I paid for BA English Honours is Rs. 99,800 per year which was a bit more in the first year as it included Rs. 5000 as security fee. There was no increment in the fee or any any extra charges as I'm aware of. The campus doesn't offer much placements but the amount of internships provided is good however I didn't participate in any of them but my friends did and they were earning and getting certificates for doing so. However there was one opportunity where the students were offered to do a foundation course of Yoga for one month where it was claimed that they'll be awarded with a stipend of Rs.9000 however there are no updates on the stipend till now and it has been more than 3 months since the course ended.

Campus Life

3.5

There are many fests held over the year and every department also has a bunch of their own fests so it's really wholesome throughout the year, In the English Departments Litfest is the biggest fest which includes Drama performances, poetic performances, dance and many more activities, the students put up their own stalls and sell the products they have to offer. The society which consists of both students and Faculty come up together and host a fest like Engifest and many more. The sports activities are not offered much in this college as there is no ground available to play in for students except a basketball court. The facilities are top-notch as the classrooms are fully air-conditioned and every class has a projector for a better demonstration of what is being taught in the class. The women even get sanitary pads in their respective washrooms.

Admission

The admission process was really as all the information was provided on the official website of GGSIPU, which gave all the updates about the counselling and admission process. I got 348th rank on my CET for the BA English Honours courses and the exam was fairly easy for a student who has a good grasp of the English language and can easily get admission in VIPS, I got admission to the college in the Third round of the counselling as that's the round where I cleared the cutoff and after that, all the students who cleared the cutoff were called to finalise the admission on the college premises where it was really welcoming, the only issue I faced was the waiting time to get your payment verified in the end of the admission process.

Faculty

5

The faculty of the English Department is really supportive and helpful in all aspects throughout the college and even after that too if one has doubts they'll never turn down a student in need. The faculty is one thing here on which a student can really rely on. The teachers are always there to assist the students no matter what the time is and the students are free to interact and clear their doubts whenever they want. All the faculty members have done PhD in their respective courses and they try their best to support and help the students in any way they can.

Other Applied Colleges

Fairfield Institute of Management and Technology - [FIMT] | Bachelor of Arts [BA] {Hons.} (English)

I found VIPS more developed in infrastructure and I heard the faculty in VIPS is very supportive, that's why I chose it over Fairfield Institute of Management and Technology

Placement Experience:

Placements are available in college, the drive is quite extensive, everyone is made aware of the choices and options and counselling is present too. It is from the third year, students are eligible to apply for placements. Companies and organisations take part such as Niti ayog, Times, Geostrata, Prajatantra foundation, etc. Those who desire usually work on their CVs, keep on doi internships and then get a placement. The packages are not that impressive to be honest.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course is really very interesting. It keeps up with our expectations. Involves both practical and theoretical aspects to make sure that we are able to face the real world. Also, with the help of the guidance that we get from teachers we're able to ace both the aspects. The examinations also are based on applications, thus, helping us to enhance ourselves in all possibilities.

I got a seat in Ramjas College. It is a north-campus college. The infrastructure is too good compared to the remaining colleges. The teaching also going well but I faced some language problems. I'm from south India so I don't understand Hindi properly. But here mostly they teach in Hindi only and English is used very rarely.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course itself is prestigious and is mostly opted for by people who plan either on preparing for the Civil Services or those who want to pursue academia. The course structure is framed in a manner that you don't just simply study history there, but you ingrain a critical viewpoint of a young historian. The faculty of History Hons. has some of the best Professors in the University, although you will in any course at any college find some teachers below your expectations, you don't have to bear them for more than 1 or 2 semesters. Passing the exams is not very difficult, but yes scoring above average is. If you get a GPA ranging from 6 to 7, you've performed fine. Above that is considered a Very good performance in Hons. courses of Social sciences at Delhi University. there are semester exams every 5- 6 months
