- The professors in this college , especially in the CSE depatment are very nice and supportive. They are expert in their respective research field and also very passionate about teaching.
- The sports infrastructure here is too good. Despite having a small campus, all sports facilities are available including Cricket, Football, Basketball, Tennis, Squash and Badminton.
- The location is very good. It is in heart of Patna city so anything of your need is within 1 kilometer. Also, the railway station and airport are just 30 mins away.
Dislikes
- The hostels are a bit old in infrastructure for the first year. But the location where it is present compensates for it.
- The campus alllows visitors without proper entry. Although security is very tight at hostel entrances, but someone from outside can also enter the campus.
- The new campus at bihta is long pending to start its operations. After it starts, many facilities will be upgraded.
Course Curriculum Overview
NIT Patna is the only NIT which follows specilization based courses form the first year itself, so you will get to learn important subjects of your branch from very starting. The curriculum is updated regularily and it was last updated in 2023 which included all the provisions of the new National Education policy. The college also allows you to take exam in Hindi apart from English and infuture reginal languages will also be included. The curriculum of NIT Patna also allws you multiple exit option from your degree which is a feature of the new National education policy. Overall, this NIT has the best curriculum among alll NITs and newer IITs.
Internships Opportunities
If you have some good prjects on your resume, then you can easily get internship here oncampus as well as offcampus. The companies that visited include Microsoft, Google, Blackrock, Atlassian, Accenture, Amazon, Facebook , Uber and startups like, Paytm, Zomato and others. The stipend offered gors from 50K/month to even 2 Lacs per month for the top tech companies.
Placement Experience
The campus placement here is very good. The percentage is around 90%. Internships are also offered on campus from the third year and stipend starts from 50K /month. Almost all multinational tech companies and startps visit here for campus placement. The placement in the core sector is also very good. the average package in this year is around 16 LPA and highest is around 82 LPA from Atlassian. Also, after graduating the admisssion to Post Graduate Curses become easy since you hold a degree of NIT Patna which is a institute of national importance.
Fees and Financial Aid
The tution fee currently is 62500/- and it increases once in 10 Yrs when the govt. increases fee for all NITs/IITs. The complete cost of a 4 Yrs course is comewhere around 8.5 lakh which includes hostel and mess fees. Many scholarship facilities are available which are means cum merit bases. The college allows you interships in summer as well as the last full semester of 6 month is a internship/FTE . I was also awarded a scholarship of 2 Lakhs in my first year itself.
Campus Life
Diffeent fests are organised in the college, which Melange being the cultural Fest, Corona being the Tech Fest and also other fest include Eccentrica and the Freshers Party. Apart from there, the sprts fest Intra-Murals is organised which is a inter -department sports meet. All sports are availble on the camppus which include Badminton, tennis, Carro, Chess, TT, BasketBall, Crciket and Football. The clubs of Music , Dance and other cultural clubs will have their doors open despite you have talent or not, only interest is required.
Hostel Facilities
Hostels are provided by the institute and is very close to the buildings where classes are help. the hostel and mess fees are also quite reasonalble. The menu of mess caters perfect balance of Nort-South indian sidhes and also both veg and non-veg options are available. The quanity is not an issue, you can re-fill any number of times. The room is also quite big and all facilites to study and enjoy your time there are provided.
Admission
The admission here is made on the basis of JEE Mains Exam Rank and cutoff varies from branch to branch. The reservation benefits of Govt. of India is also apprlicable here. The seat is alloted by JoSAA and CSAB councelling after which you ahve to report here. The admsission process is smooth and you have to register online before reporting to the college. The fee waiver can also be availed for low income category student, i.e. if you income is 1-5 lakh then you have to noly pay 1/3rd of the fees. And if youyr income is less than 1 Lakh then , tution fees is completely waived off.
Faculty
The professors here are highly qualifies and experienced and most of them hold a degree from Top IITs. The faculty to student ration is alaways kept high . When the strength of a particular branch is more, then its divided into sections so that faculty can have personalised attention on each student. The faculties have a very keen and passionate approach towards taking classes and syllabus is covered well in time. Also, the professors are very friendly, and you can approach them for any doubt at any working day on anytime. The professors even share their mobile numbers to address any doubt. Also, the Teaching Assistant are very helpful and supportive.
