Remarks

To sum up, I would say the college is pretty awesome. It's pretty difficult to keep one so much indulged in the college activities and not to make one feel so homesick. But Symbiosis has achieved it, and can truly be called your Home far from Home.

Course Curriculum Overview

4

The course curriculum and the exam structure is in very organised manner. The course curriculum is a research driven. The syllabus expects the student to do bit of research work in every field as the topics that it covers requires one to do so. The college usually conducts class test every fortnight after teaching the subject for almost a month. One unit test is conducted after two class test. A gap of almost 2-3 weeks is provided between the 2nd class test and the unit test. Within a month of the unit test the practicals session are held. We are given a study break of almost 2-3 weeks before beginning with the end semester. The class tests are very chill, as the syllabus is not so dense and as the topics are recently taught, covering the syllabus is not a challenge. The unit tests usually goes on for a week. The syllabus covered is a bit deep. But still one is given enough time to cover up, as one exam is held per day, so you get the rest of the day to study. Obviously one has to start studying a bit prior the actual exam dates but still manageable. The practical exams held are also very relevant to the course being taught. So one finds it very interesting while performing the practical use of the theory taught in the classrooms. Practicals are also very chill if one is a bit attentive while performing them during teaching period. The end semesters exam goes on for almost two weeks. We are given a break of one day between each exam. The syllabus to be covered is obviously very vast if to be completed in one day.

Placement Experience

3.5

The college has maintained a record of 100% placement for the past couple of years. The companies coming for the placement are also very decent. Companies like Dell, IBM, HCL, Hitachi, Nvidia, HSBC, Bombardier Vodafone, Idea visit the college. The curriculum demands the student to complete a period of 6 months or 2 months for an internship. It gives an option to the student to either complete 6 months of the semester as an intern at any relevant company or does a 2 months internship and 4 months of college study and project. I had completed my internship at Giesecke & Devrient Mobile Security. The teachers help a lot for the internship semester. They help a student in finding internship using their contacts. Also, companies like Mathworks visit our college to provide internships. So one does not have to worry regarding the internship or placement.

College Events

4.5

Your college won't be typical if you take admission in Symbiosis. As there is always something going on throughout the year. The college holds cultural, technical as well as sports events. The technical event of the college is called the TechFest. In this, every department showcases their wits by using their theory on a practical basis. Obviously, the competition among the department is high. The tech fest is usually 2 days. But the work already starts 2 weeks prior. The cultural event conducted here is called Reverb. This event attracts a great crowd. People from all the department come together to make this event a great success. Even students from other colleges visit this fest as our Publicity staff goes from college to college to attract the crowd. Reverb is usually for 3-4 days. The sports fest conducted is known as Protathlitis. This is an inter-department fight and dominance in sports. This goes up to one week.

Fee Structure And Facilities

The fee structure constitutes of two installments. The first installment of the academic fees is of 1.3L and the 2nd installment is also 1.3L. The hostel deposit is 15k which is refundable. The hostel fees are 48k per annum and the mess fees are 30k annum. Its a total of around 2.4L for the first installment and around 2L as a 2nd installment in the first year.

Fees and Financial Aid

There many educational loans available in the market. Many banks also provide special interests for such specific loans.

Campus Life

4.5

The campus life isn't a regular one. One is always indulged in one or another activity, so getting bored is difficult. The gender ratio is also decent. You can find students from many different countries studying here. A MUN is conducted in the college, so the students who are interested in debates can fulfill there desire to heart's content. There are also workshops on Big Data, Robotics, Deep Learning and may more current market requiring skills. The college provides special workshops on the latest technology on Arduino, raspberry pi, automation, and robotics.

Alumni/Alumna

The alumni are also very helpful. The college conducts seminars in which the alumni are invited to share their experience and their current status with the students. There is no age gap boundary between the senior and junior at Symbiosis. Having interactions with the seniors can also help you decide your steps after college tenure.

Admission

I got my admission in Symbiosis Institute of Technology through the SET entrance test. Symbiosis conducts this test every year to gather students with good knowledge in Science and Mathematics. This is usually conducted in the month of May. A particular cut off is released after the test has been conducted. One must either score greater or equal to the cut off marks to get a seat in SIT. SIT has four departments, namely Computer Science, Electronics & telecommunication, Mechanical and Civil. Particular number of seats are allotted to each department at time of admission. The selected candidates are given an option for the selection of department at the time of admission as per the number of seats available.

Faculty

4

The faculty of the college is very good. They are very well prepared for their lectures and even prepare their own notes. They are very easy to approach even after their lectures for doubt solving sessions. They are also available after college hours to clarify one's difficulties. The faculty always keeps the class interesting by conducting video lectures or conducting guest lectures, in which people from industry are invited to give the lecture on a particular topic. Such stuff always keeps a student mind always in the game.
