Course Curriculum Overview

4

I think the BA History Hons course curriculum has all the concepts that must be included. Yes, some of the current relevant topics and concepts may be missing but, overall the course is fun to learn and easy to understand only if you have a passion for history. The course includes History of different countries like Japan, Korea, China etc that makes students ware of the Global History too. The exams are usually kept at a moderate level so that students can easily score good marks and pass it. It is a 3 hour long examination and is hed in different months based on Delhi University's guidelines each year.

Internships Opportunities

4.5

The college has its own placement cell that offers placement and internship opportunities to students of 3rd Year and 4th Year. The students of 3rd Year are permitted to enroll and register themselves into the placement cell in order to get the benefits of internships and placement. The highest salary package that was offered in 2023 was 21 lakhs per annum and the average package was around 6.50 lakhs per annum. The major recruiters of Jesus and Mary college are Accenture, HCL, Deloitte, ICICI Bank etc.

Fees and Financial Aid

The tuition fee for BA History Hons has increased from 15,150 to 21,650 per semester. The complete cost of my course is 1 lakh 23 thousand which I think is pretty affordable for students studying in DU. Students receive scholarships based on their merit. There are fee concessions offered to those students who may not be able to afford the course fees. The Book Bank Scheme is one such scheme that is offered to needy students. Another scheme is the ' Student Aid Fund ' which offers aid to needy students. Scholarships include the Kesar Memorial Prize, The Mary Abraham Scholarship, and the Visalakshmi Menon Award. The tuition fee is around 180 per sem and all other fees are included in the final fee which amounts to 20,625.

Campus Life

5

The college campus is very large and is filled with lush greenery. The infrastructure is also highly developed and the campus is very clean. There are a number of fests that are held in different months in the college. But it's main fest is held in the month of February and March and it's called 'Montage'. The students from different colleges are allowed entry during this time. This fest has a lot of competitions, concerts and DJ for the students from different colleges. The college has its own society like western music society, placement send, dance society. It ensures and overall personality development of the students along with educational group growth. The college also has it all sports society for students who might be interested in sport. The library is very large and is air condition. It has different sections for different fields and it becomes easy for students to choose the book that they want.

Admission

The eligibility for applying to a course it that one needs to pass the 10+2 pass criteria from any recognized Board. The cut-offs usually remain high to around 95% for most of the courses. The application form can be found in the official website of JMC and all the updates about fees and application dates will be provided on their official platform. The exam schedule is given by DU every year and the dates may change every year. The exams are held in two slots - Morning and Afternoon. The exam duration is of 3 hours. The exams are not difficult at all and those who have studied well can easily score good marks. The admission process is pretty effortless compared to other universities and may not require any change.

Faculty

3.5

The faculty is highly educated, most of them are very kind and would help you when you find it difficult to understand a concept. There are some of them who may be biased towards some students but this happens very rarely. The faculty knows how to make students understand a concept very easily by giving real world examples. Some of them are so friendly that you can even call them whenever you want to clarify your doubts. My learning experience was too good with all my department faculty members. They all are highly approachable and kind. They are always their to guide you whenever you are lost in your way.

Interview Experience

5

The college hold reservation facilities for Christian student and usually hold interview round for them. The college accepts admission for general student on the basis of their merit. I personally did not have to go through any interview for this.

The course curriculum is a bit too theoretical and less practical. The exams in the college takes places every month which are seasonals and are for internal marking and then we have semester exams in every 6 months which accounts for the external marking.

Placement Experience:

Placements are available in college, the drive is quite extensive, everyone is made aware of the choices and options and counselling is present too. It is from the third year, students are eligible to apply for placements. Companies and organisations take part such as Niti ayog, Times, Geostrata, Prajatantra foundation, etc. Those who desire usually work on their CVs, keep on doi internships and then get a placement. The packages are not that impressive to be honest.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course is really very interesting. It keeps up with our expectations. Involves both practical and theoretical aspects to make sure that we are able to face the real world. Also, with the help of the guidance that we get from teachers we're able to ace both the aspects. The examinations also are based on applications, thus, helping us to enhance ourselves in all possibilities.

I got a seat in Ramjas College. It is a north-campus college. The infrastructure is too good compared to the remaining colleges. The teaching also going well but I faced some language problems. I'm from south India so I don't understand Hindi properly. But here mostly they teach in Hindi only and English is used very rarely.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course itself is prestigious and is mostly opted for by people who plan either on preparing for the Civil Services or those who want to pursue academia. The course structure is framed in a manner that you don't just simply study history there, but you ingrain a critical viewpoint of a young historian. The faculty of History Hons. has some of the best Professors in the University, although you will in any course at any college find some teachers below your expectations, you don't have to bear them for more than 1 or 2 semesters. Passing the exams is not very difficult, but yes scoring above average is. If you get a GPA ranging from 6 to 7, you've performed fine. Above that is considered a Very good performance in Hons. courses of Social sciences at Delhi University. there are semester exams every 5- 6 months
