What Students Say
Likes
- it is easy to innteract with seniors and people here. they are here to socialize and make friends. this is helpful in the long run because you will need good communication skills for interviews etc.
- fests are amazing, one thing you will never regret are the fests and the parties.
- You will gain practical education here and this is what the college focuses on. You will get placement opportunities along side with deemed students if you have a decent gpa.
Dislikes
- smoking and drinking is what makes this college avoidable and it is quite bad in that matter because you will find a lot of students doing drugs etc but it depemds on you and which group you decide to join.
- too over crowded, this college is situated in one of the most populated areas of dehradun, this makes it insufferable after off time. too overcrowded means competition as well, there are over 1000 students in the btech degree alone.
- you will have to study immensely hard to get any placement oppurtunities and theres also a 75% criteria of attendance. you will be divided into sections as soon as you join and after first year you will be divided according to gpa so gpa is also imp.
Course Curriculum Overview
no college in india is teaching you real time problem solving skills. it is just like school hindi and english suvbjects, you cannot get any job if you r solely relying on college studies and curriculum. you have to study on your own. maybe after third sem,you will get to learn a few helpful things but that is still not enough for a job.
Internships Opportunities
internship oppurtunites are provided and there small scale internships within campus too if you want financial help. you can apply for internship in 4th sem of 3rd sem which is broadly 2nd year but it requires immense skills and you might get an unpaid internship but it will be worth it in the long run, students prefer to apply for internships in the third year when they are ready for it whether off campus or on campus. recently jp morgann visited the campus hiring for interns at 7.5 stipend as a backend developer.
Placement Experience
placements are average or just above average. if you work hard say 2 hours daily consistent, then you can receive approx 8-10lpa but the condition is you have to maintain a good gpa and have excellent command in some programming languages annd software. there are campus placement oppurtunities but only for good gpa students for example recently a company visited and banned students from giving the exams who have below 7.5 gpa. average package is about 6 lpa but if you are a less than average or an average student then you will receive approx 3-4 lpa or remain unplaced. there is no 100% or even 60% placement guarantee. it is on you how you work upon yourself. highest package is received by a girl from hill campus just last year of 84 lpa. my plan is to go off campus by maintaining a good gpa and learning languages on my own.
Fees and Financial Aid
there are 2 types of scholarship, one is domicile and non domicile and the other is academic. Based on your 12th percentage(pcm percentage),your jee score and cuet score. you can attain a scholarship. now for the domicile and non domicile scholarship, it doesnt matter where you live, you will get a scholarship, if you are from uttrakhand then you will get more scholarship than non uk students. that too will depend on your 12marks. for example i got 45000 rs scholarship per semester which is the maximum as a non uk student which requires 75% in pcm. in total i paid 2,42,000 for first year from which 18000 is refundable. you will find all the necessary details from their website or you can just call them and ask them for their fee structure and they will send you a pdf explaining everything.
Campus Life
college life is the best thing about this college. There are clubs, activites ,debate competition.senior interaction sessions and gd's. most popular club kaavyanjli here includes all of these activities. sports activites are managed by other clubs and nss, they are also pretty decent. campus is somewhat small but manageable. its okay overall.
Hostel Facilities
i am currently is maharana pratap hostel which is the cheapest you can find. it is said to be the oldest hostel of this college ,note that both deemed and hill students live toghether in the hostel. meal and mess food is fantastic for the starting 3 months but after the diwali holidays, the food quality decreases but it is still eatable and on special occasions you will have non veg and fast food as well. registration for hostel is similar as the college, your counsellor will guide you through it. only downside of this college is that its 1 km away from the main campus so if you missed the bus you will have to walk there. and also you dont need to worry about smoking or ragging as there are friendly seniors.
Admission
you will get a counsellor as soon as you fill out the form. he/she will guide you through everything. there is an entrance exam for deemed university but it was too late for me as i had already taken admission in hill university. You need to have 65% above in 12th boards overall to get into hill uni and 80% above to get into deemed univeristy.
Faculty
fiirst year faculties are good as you all are new and will get equal oppurtunities. but after second year if you are not in the top 4 four sections, do not expect any help of faculty,in the matter of fact, donot expect any help from college either. you will have to maintain a good gpa to get access to top class faculty. the low level faculties are pass outs from the same college. in the first year, for every section there are 2 faculties, so 30 to 1 ratio. but after first year thiss ratio goes upto 40-50 to 1 in top batches and 100 to 1 in lower batches.
