My college experience

I was getting a few choices for course in an IIT as i didnt scored much in my jee advanced exam. This branch and college is one of them. Metallurgy is a branch which mostly talks about Materials and its application. So its importance is quite high and has a great scope for future according to me. The faculty staff alloted gives their best in teaching and I dont think they require improvement as they are professors not teachers. Midsem and endsem happens in every 2 months per semester and the difficulty level is generally moderate but sometimes quite difficult.

Many companies like google, Nvdia, amazon, zomato etc come for giving jobs and internships. Stipend varies from 20k to 100k. Roles offered are software developer, product manager, consultant etc. To make our cv look more unique we have to present more unique projects and experiences .

From 5th semester internship opportunities are provided to us and for job opportunity we have to wait till 8th semester. Highest package given to a student in our college is 64 lakhs and average package is 15 lakhs. Many companies like Nvdia, Google,amazon, zomato etc come for giving jobs and internships. In my branch Tata steel, jindal, applied materials etc are the ones which come for same. More than 80 % people are placed in my branch and overall more than 75 % people get placed. I am planning for further studies after getting my degree.

Total institute fees for 1 semester is 101290 for general category and mess fee 18000 . Reservation candidates only need to pay mess fee. So the total payment for 1 semester is 119290. The institute fee include tution fee, transportation, gymkhana and other expenses.

Alma fiesta is our socio cultural fest and wissenaire is our tech fest . The both happen in the month of march. Other than that we have sports fest named ashwamedha. Our library has almost every book to each course but it still can be improved. The classroom are very advanced with air conditioning and smart class system. The campus has facilities for a variety of sports like table tennis, badminton, basketball, football etc. There are various clubs and societies in our college run by student bodies and are a superb source for exploring skills and talent and extra curricular activities.

We are given a single room accommodation. The mess food is many times good, but sometimes its unedible and we would rather prefer sleeping empty stomach than eating it. All registration and fee payment occurs in our college erp site. We cant even think of a pg as our campus is too far away from main city and traveling 20-30KM everyday would be not worth it.

I applied for geophysics and mining in ISM Dhanbad. But I filled my current college and branch above them. Also these branches are not very popular among students but as I didn't scored very well in my JEE advance examination, I had very few choices. To get into an IIT you first need to clear JEE mains cutoff and then clear JEE advance. After that we need to apply for JOSAA counseling in which we fill our college choices and 6 rounds will be conducted for alloting a college from our choices

The course consists of 10 semesters as I am a dual degree student so I have to spend 5 years in this college. There are mainly 2 exams for each subject per semester namely midsem and endsem. Some times professor also takes quizes apart from them. The midsem weights 30%, endsem weighs 50% and 20% are internal marks which includes attendence,quizzes and class participation during class. Talking about professers, most of them are very understanding and humble and take lectures interactively.
