Likes
- The campus life is superb, Nit silchar has a huge campus size of 625 acr with lots of Greenery
- Placement is decent with the placement percentage of 90 percent. And rest 10 percentage goes for higher studies. The average pakage is approx 1400000.
- Professors are knowledgeable and experience and hold good number of patents.
Dislikes
- Academic is tough, classes are from morning 8 to evening 5 and that became hectic some time.
- 75 percent attandance criteria and this need to be fullfill otherwise adminstration don't allow to give the end sem exam
- Some of the professor class are so boaring it became hard to tolerate 1 hrs.
Course Curriculum Overview
Curriculum is updated in the year 2018 based on new industrial demand and according to ministry guidelines. Curriculum is also design according to the competitive exams like gate and ese. Test and minor exams are occur throughout the semester.
Internships Opportunities
In the 2nd last semester we have a subject of 2 credit called industrial training and for that 6 week intership is required. When you are in the 3rd year company also visit here for training and you have an option to do research internship under professor itself.
Placement Experience
Placement is good with the average pakage of 1400000 and median is 110000. Good company visit here like Flipkart , Amazon , jsw , l&t , lows , future first etc and total 250+ company visit here every year. Interesting part is that Psu also recrutes from here and offer good pakages in core branches.
Fees and Financial Aid
The year wise fee will cost around 144000 it include Tution fee , registration fees , admission fee ,lab fee, library fee etc. But ther is a scholarship based on family annual income means of you have annual family income more than 500000 then you have to pay the whole fee. If you lies between 1 lac to 5 lac then you will get 2/3 of you fee is relaxation and if your are sc or at candidate or having annual income less than 1 lac your whole fee will relaxed only you have to pay the registration fee that will cost around 15000 only. One time caution money of 10000 have to pay while taking admission in it.
Campus Life
Campus life is awesome. Here you find the students from all over India, good number of foreign students also. Our annual cultural fest name is Incandescence that occurs in the month of Feb every year and our technical fest is Tecnoesis that occurs in the month of Oct every year and it is the 4 day long fest and famous celebrities, poets , standup comedy come to make the night special while taking about technical fest robo wars , module making , car racing and may more event will happen. Talking about sports , here you find all the sports , badminton, lawn tennis, table tennis, cricket, football, vollyball, kabaddi, kho kho , basketball and dedicated court for all the sports.
Hostel Facilities
You will be given 3 sitting room in the first year and in the 2nd and 3rd year double sitting room is provided and in the final year single room is given. Talking about food it is okay not good not bad. Good internet speed is provided in the hostel. If you are in nits you have to live in the hostel itself
Admission
The main reason to choose this college is placement, good exposure and its ranking it stand at 40th position in engineering in India and at 7th position in all the nits. It has total 33 clubs and societies that help in overall development.
Faculty
Nit Silchar have ample amount of faculty, faculty to students ratio is 1:30. All the facilities are highly qualified and hold PhD and pdoc degree from iits or foreign universities. Some faculties also take the classes of foreign universities. Talking about exam majorly we have mid semester exam which is of 30 marks for 1 hrs and End sem exam which is of 50 for 2 hrs and rest 20 marks compromises Viva, assignment,minor test and Attandance.
