What Students Say
Likes
- The beauty of campus is something no one can unsee. It gives breath taking beauty specially in the rainy season. The greenery and lakes makes it more beautiful. It would be more beautiful if the lakes are cleaned.
- The placement is also good specially for circuital branches, the highest package touches Rs 80 LPA which is not a small amount
- The campus Life, student activities, clubs, social interactions are the best part of our college life.
Dislikes
- Some professors are not that friendly and not understandable at all but some of them are really nice.
- The infrastructures are a bit old as the college is very old. Some really needs renovation.
- The transportation facilities needs to be improved as fees is taken in that name but no genuine facility is there for this big campus and being distant from the main town.
Course Curriculum Overview
The course curriculum is mostly as per the standard course that is thought in any other engineering college. The difficulty level is moderate though some subjects deserves to be hard. There are many areas of improvement in teaching methods as Mathematics is still the most backholding subject in the history of engineering.
Internships Opportunities
Many companies visit in 3rd year for providing internship. These companies also provide PPO opportunities. Many reputed companies visits specially for circuital branches. From every branch some or many students gets selected for internship and many gains PPO from the same.
Placement Experience
Students are eligible for Campus Placements from 7th semester before that Internship and PPO opportunities are there. A lot of well respected companies are frequent visitors. The highest package of recent batch is 55 LPA and average is 9LPA. More than 80 % students gets placed and for circuital branches it may hit a 100.
Fees and Financial Aid
For non reservation candidate, the fees is a bit high. It is 74000 per semester i.e., Rs 1,48,000 per year. The hostel fees is included but the mess fees is additional Rs 22,500 per semester. So, total Btech fees for non reservation hostel tends to Rs 8 lakhs. For SC/ST/PWD the fees is Rs 11000 per semester which is fair enough. Compensations are also provided to individuals having annual family income less than 1 lakhs, or less than 5 lakhs per annum. Scholarships are not there college specific, National level scholarships are only available which allows the candidates who are already availing fee compensation benefits. So, the students who are paying complete fees have no chances of reducing their fees. No merit based scholarships are there. Affordability is fair enough if someone is having some income certificate or any category certificate but for the rest the fees is not that much fair. Other than the mentioned fees, there are no other latent fees as everything is included in thiss
Campus Life
There are two major fests, Tecnoesis and Incandescence. Tecnoesis is technical fest and Incandescence is Cultural fest. Research facilities and journals are also nice. Sports activities are frequent and inter college tournaments are also there. Social activity group, Coding club, e-cell, branch societies and many more are there.
Hostel Facilities
Hostels are okayish and some are nice. But in 2nd year tripple seater rooms are provided which is not acceptable. The food quality is as expected from a mess. Quality in not that much great and everything tastes same. Hostel and mess food are affordable as the rate is not at all high. For renting PG, not much facilities Rae there.
Admission
I applied for this college only because it was needed for me to be in close range to my home. It is the main reason I choose this college. Other colleges which were on my priority are better than this college in some parameters but NIT Silchar is also comparable to all then now now by Ranking and other parameters.
Faculty
There are many types of faculty members. All of them are highly knowledgeable but not all are capable of providing their knowledge to us. Moreover many are not friendly but there are few professors who are extremely friendly, knowledgeable and having nice strategy to teach. There are total three exams, Mid Semester, Minor test , and End Semester. Mis sem consists of 30 marks, End sem consists of 50 marks and Minor along with internal consists of 20 marks.
Other Applied Colleges
