Nit Silchar : A student's prospective

Course curriculum is very adaptable ,so i decided to opt for this course.Along with theory class ,we have lab classes also which gives us exposure to real life scenario and applications .some things i waant to be changed is that attendance criteria of 75 percent should be removed and students should get more exposure to clubs like eco club,ecell etc.Exams are moderate to difficult in some subjects and midsem are conducted before 3 months and endsem in last month of semester.

Many companies come to provide internship opportunity to students in 4 th semestere.They offer stipend from 50000 to 2 lakh per month based on the job role and company.We have to do projrcts on site for 2 months period.

Students become eligible for campus placement from 4 the year.Many companies arrive at campus and take their exams and on the basis of performance they shortlist candiadates.Each year almost 150 companies visit our college and almost 85 to 90 percent of students get placed.Highest package is Ninety lakh and average package is fourteen lakh.Almost 85 percent got placed every year.I want to apply for various PSU for govt civil enggineering post.

in year 2023, our college fees was 142800, but in this year it has increased by 1200,so from this year onward fees will be 144000 per year.The above fee is for income above 500000,but for income beelow 1 lakh college fees is 22000 for one year.Many scholarships are given like national scholarship(pm yasasvi yojna upto 88000 per year).One scholarship is being provided from our college side i.e. Reg Epiroc scholarship program.one more scholarship that many of my batchmates got was ONGC scholarship ,in which scholarship of 50000 per year is awarded to students.This is being awarded by ONGC to meritorious students ,girls are given first preference.U can get only one scholarship in one year.

Each year 4 fests are being conducted .One technical fest Technoesis and other like Incand,oikyoton,and one assam fest.our college has a very big library ,almost all types of books based on curriculum or everything is available.Smartroom class with projectors and smart podium .labs well functioned with every equipment.Cricket ,football ,basketball ,kabaddi and many more indoor games like table tennis ,badminton. Many clubs are there ECo club, Gyansagar , Music club etc .With these clubs we refresh our moods and do many charity work in gyansagar .

For hostel and mess collectively they charge 44000 for one year ,in which we get a room 4 times meal and free lan ,electricity and all facilities at such a minimal cost.Food qualtity is OK .In menu we have veg and non veg every day and milk or egg every morning .All process are done online on jossa website .For rented room they charge 5000 per month .

Nit silchar is 7 th ranked college under NITs under NIRF ranking ,so i opted for this . I have got offer letter from NIT srinagar and Nit aggarttalla ,but i rejected them as their ranking is above 15.For ad,mission to our college ,Jee mains exam is compulsory and on the basis of rank and home state and other state quota in this college u get admission.only u have to come to college for doc verification ,rest are done online.

In our branch there are 2 sections ,and 1 professors for each subject has been assigned to both sections alongwith 4 T.A.Our director sir prof.k Dilip i like the most ,he is from civil enggineering background and despite of his work he takes 1 class of soil mechanics every week ,although other faculty has ben assigned for that subject.One faculty is Ujjwal kumar jharula,he is not that good in teaching and also gives biasing marks to students irrespective of their performance.Per semester ,there is one mid sem exam of 30 marks and one end sem exam for 50 marks and one minor test for 10 marks and rest are given un attendance and class activities and assignment.
