Entrance Preview

Till 2008 it was through iit jee anow indian meritime studies has started a separte examination for the same. I opted for this course because it is only government college with great infrastructure specially for marine engineering .

Internships Opportunities

There is a compulsory internship programme for everyone in third year. Good shipping companies like british petroleum, nyk japan, mitshubishi japan, msc geneva, marsk line, fm shipping etc from around the world hire students for 6 month internship and stipend varies from 30k to 60k.

Placement Experience

There has been 100% placement except few downcyle years of global meltdown 2009 to 2010 but now again. There is 100% placement with wages varies from 1.5 lakh to 1.8 lakh per month initially.

Fees and Financial Aid

Government of india provide special scholar ship for economically weaker students. To avail this scholarship one need to talk to college administration. Beside this any nationalised bank can provide easy education loan.

Campus Life

Due to job profile it has been not opted by the female candidates generally, however everybatch has got 2-5 girls every year. There is no limit on hostel parties. Environment is totally tolerant and technical workshop is very good and gives lot of fun.

Exam Structure

Exam structure is semester wise, engineering drawing is most hectic one till 5th semester even it would take some times 11 hours in class. Labs are frequent which demands punctuality.

I don't have idea about the placements since I'm in first year now. But I talked to a senior and got to know that many got multiple offers in 4th year. I also head that packages are around 4 lpa which is a decent and also a rise than the previous year.

The summary of my four years in one of the oldest colleges in India

Placement Experience:

The campus placements happen in final year of the course. There is a well established placement cell to conduct the on-campus placements. Many well renowned companies visit our college namely Microsoft, Google, TI, TSL, PWC, ICICI, ABG. L&T, etc. The highest package was 50LPA and the average was around 9LPA. Over 90% students got placed from across every department and details of the placement is also available in the college official website. I have gotten a job from the on-campus drive to a core company.

Placement Experience:

The placements of our college are below average. Studies for placement are more or less relevant from second semester. companies like tcs, amazon etc do visit our campus however very few are selected with package above 4-5 LPA. Most of the students seek out for higher studies and that's my plan too.

Placement Experience:

After the 6th semester, the students are eligible for placements. Mass recruiters like TCS, Wipro, Infosys, Accenture, Capgemini, etc visit every year and pick up 80-100 students per company. Other companies like Amazon, Thoughtworks, Etc also visit the college. The highest package offered by our college is 15LPA by Thoughtworks. Every year around 75-80% of students get placed on campus. I plan to get a good job work for 2-3 years and then apply for Masters. Overall the placement is very nice in this college.

Good for placements, excellent hostel life and good to learn, apply and fun. A college for all round development.

I have searched for many other colleges but i chose this because it is the oldest marine engineering college and has a benchmark legacy, and this college has shaped the merchant navy of the nation. It has been known for producing the finest marine engineers. I preffered marine engineering over other courses because this is a type of training that ensures your wholesome development.
