Remarks

The college management rarely affects the students directly. The one flaw (as it may seem to most of the students) is that the issue of attendance is taken very seriously by the college authorities. There have been instances where students have been detained due to short attendance. A minimum of 66.6% attendance is required per semester to stay out of trouble.

Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

JMC follows the course curriculum and exam structure of Delhi University; it is wholesome. The subjects and content taught in the classroom are comprehensive. 2 semesters in 1 year have made exam structure easier than the universities that follow the year system. The one thing different about giving exams in JMC than other DU colleges is the strictness and surveillance. Two and sometimes even three invigilators in one exam hall is a sight not found in other colleges.

Placement Experience

3.5

The placement cell of JMC is very active and provides numerous opportunities for the students. All one has to do is register with the placement cell. Some courses and students might get better placements depending on market demand and a student's own grades. Apart from this, during the course, every department of the college helps students find internships relating to their field of interest.

College Events

3.5

JMC is not as active with events as other DU colleges. Different departments hold their own events and cultural fests that are open to students of other departments as well as other colleges. The annual fest of JMC called, 'Montage' is usually a 2-3 days affair and you can expect big Bollywood music artists and personalities to perform.

Fee Structure And Facilities

The fees are very minimal (around 4000/semester for B.A. {hons} courses) and are paid every semester. Apart from tuition, library, maintenance, examination, etc fees, one can expect expenses on department events, contribution to various college societies and a compulsory department fund every month, which varies from department to department but is usually in the range of Rs.500-800.

Fees and Financial Aid

I have neither opted for any scholarship nor availed an education loan but there are students in the college who have.

Campus Life

4

JMC is an all women's college. You can find students from all across the country on campus. Though diversity exists, the college will seem to be divided into 'North Indians', 'South Indians' and 'North Easterns'. There might not be a hierarchy but there is definitely disparity. Apart from that, there are ample of opportunities for students interested in extracurricular activities, as there are more than 15 working societies and many clubs on campus that recruit and work with students.

Alumni/Alumna

The anti-ragging policy of the college is actually executed. Seniors are very helpful and supportive. There is a special orientation of all the freshers with their department seniors within the first week of their college life, this helps juniors and seniors to bond better.

Admission

After applying for admission to Delhi University, students seeking admission in JMC are required to fill a separate form that is available on the college's website. It is supposed to be done around the month of May. The cutoff lists are released with other colleges of the university. JMC also releases a list of selected students' application numbers. Once one meets the cut off requirements and has one's number on the list, one has to visit the college's general office with all mandatory documents and other mentioned documents like a medical certificate of fitness, etc. Lastly, one is required to meet the principal and pay the fees. This happens all through June and the initial July.

Faculty

4.5

The faculty of JMC is one of the best things about this college. The faculty is dedicated and knowledgeable. Though teachers and professors are very particular about punctuality, deadlines, assignments, and assessments, they are extremely supportive of students. In JMC, one will be able to reach out to the faculty even outside the classroom.

The course curriculum is a bit too theoretical and less practical. The exams in the college takes places every month which are seasonals and are for internal marking and then we have semester exams in every 6 months which accounts for the external marking.

Placement Experience:

Placements are available in college, the drive is quite extensive, everyone is made aware of the choices and options and counselling is present too. It is from the third year, students are eligible to apply for placements. Companies and organisations take part such as Niti ayog, Times, Geostrata, Prajatantra foundation, etc. Those who desire usually work on their CVs, keep on doi internships and then get a placement. The packages are not that impressive to be honest.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course is really very interesting. It keeps up with our expectations. Involves both practical and theoretical aspects to make sure that we are able to face the real world. Also, with the help of the guidance that we get from teachers we're able to ace both the aspects. The examinations also are based on applications, thus, helping us to enhance ourselves in all possibilities.

I got a seat in Ramjas College. It is a north-campus college. The infrastructure is too good compared to the remaining colleges. The teaching also going well but I faced some language problems. I'm from south India so I don't understand Hindi properly. But here mostly they teach in Hindi only and English is used very rarely.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course itself is prestigious and is mostly opted for by people who plan either on preparing for the Civil Services or those who want to pursue academia. The course structure is framed in a manner that you don't just simply study history there, but you ingrain a critical viewpoint of a young historian. The faculty of History Hons. has some of the best Professors in the University, although you will in any course at any college find some teachers below your expectations, you don't have to bear them for more than 1 or 2 semesters. Passing the exams is not very difficult, but yes scoring above average is. If you get a GPA ranging from 6 to 7, you've performed fine. Above that is considered a Very good performance in Hons. courses of Social sciences at Delhi University. there are semester exams every 5- 6 months
