Remarks

A colleges foundation depends upon the joint effort of each and every faculties as well as students. In this college, we have students from all over India, so one thing is clear the environment is very friendly and helpful.

Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

IMU CET is not very tough as compared to other national level engineering exams. There are 50 math's, 50 physics, 20 chemistry, 40 General Reasoning, and 40 English questions. Even if the exam pattern changes the basic idea of examination in the same. Unlike other colleges, the counseling and admission process is very fast about within weeks after the result is declared. So one should keep their documents ready.

Placement Experience

3

Well here comes the thing we all are studying for, to find the job and uplift life standard. Like colleges all over India, placement even in this college isn't very good or bad. You'll get placed if you are a topper in the college, but so do topper of all colleges gets. On talking about the average placement, with the increase in private marine institutes by respective shipping companies, getting placed have become one of the biggest problems. Well since life is full of such problems, well if you land up here you'll definitely do something good with life.

College Events

5

Facilities and Seniors at IMU-KC provide an excellent opportunity for those who are inclined to improve their skills in sporting events and games. We even celebrate all festivals at the college Campus. An annual function or college fest is held in the month of October at quite a fascinating level. Apart from these many other extra curriculum activities are there to participate throughout the year.

Fee Structure And Facilities

The basic fee for college is RS.2.25 lakhs per year, with paying Rs.1.25 lakh in the first semester and remaining in the next semester. Apart from this, you need to pay for the examination fee of Rs.3ooo as examination fees every semester. The full year fees of Rs.2.25 lakh includes hostel as well as food and education. Apart from this you also get personal things from uniforms to shoes, t-shirts, shorts, etc.

Fees and Financial Aid

Well, the college has SBI branch just a few steps away...if someone wants loan they provide the gateway. The branch mainly concerns about the college so work is quite faster as compared to anywhere else.

Campus Life

3.5

College life is very disciplined and the college natural environment is very green. The college environment is peaceful and not very hectic. Sports and extra activities are very much appreciated. The laboratories of college are quite old, as old as the 1950s I guess. The gender ratio is about 230:3 on the whole campus, with 230 being male cadets. Competition is quite good here as all qualify the CET exam and everyone's first priority is this college situated in the Kolkata Port Region.

Hostel Facilities

3.5

There are no separate hostel fees, although on paper it is. This course is fully residential, meaning you need to stay there with 85% attendance.

Alumni/Alumna

The Alumni network of the college is too good and diverse. Since the college was started in 1953 there are many pass-outs of the college at great positions in the shipping industry. The communication and informative exchange of ideas between seniors and juniors are very satisfying. So coming to the fact of being helpful, well apart from everything that I like most about the college is the helpful and understanding nature of every senior.

Admission

You have to fill IMU CET entrance form which comes in the month of April-May. After filling the form and giving the online exam, wait for the result. The result comes in the form of a pdf with names of about 15000 to 16000 students. So well yes all have qualified but since there are only 350 seats in Government College. The rest can opt for private colleges under IMU (around 23 colleges). Private colleges also take their separate exams. There is also facilities of sponsorship in many private colleges.

Faculty

4.5

The faculties here at IMU KC are very professional, apart from few visiting faculties most of them are merchant navy officer. The teaching and communication between teachers and students are good. Like other colleges, it's quite different here since you need to follow strict routines. At last, all I can assure for is that if you are keen to learn and is desperate about the field, well you can get some help here. Although since India's transport isn't flourished the college lacks technical advancement.

The campus placements happen in final year of the course. There is a well established placement cell to conduct the on-campus placements. Many well renowned companies visit our college namely Microsoft, Google, TI, TSL, PWC, ICICI, ABG. L&T, etc. The highest package was 50LPA and the average was around 9LPA. Over 90% students got placed from across every department and details of the placement is also available in the college official website. I have gotten a job from the on-campus drive to a core company.

The placements of our college are below average. Studies for placement are more or less relevant from second semester. companies like tcs, amazon etc do visit our campus however very few are selected with package above 4-5 LPA. Most of the students seek out for higher studies and that's my plan too.

Placement Experience:

After the 6th semester, the students are eligible for placements. Mass recruiters like TCS, Wipro, Infosys, Accenture, Capgemini, etc visit every year and pick up 80-100 students per company. Other companies like Amazon, Thoughtworks, Etc also visit the college. The highest package offered by our college is 15LPA by Thoughtworks. Every year around 75-80% of students get placed on campus. I plan to get a good job work for 2-3 years and then apply for Masters. Overall the placement is very nice in this college.
