Likes
- Talking about the biotechnology department the labs are not well maintained as there are no instruments for the experiment, so the administration should work on this.
- Teachers were so punctual and active in biotech department with regular classes (so called 75% criteria)
- The placements are rare in this dept. however Training and placement cell brings companies only for CS and other departments.
Dislikes
- Placement are worse, so the only option left is to appear for the gate or for higher studies. Either you have to prepare by yourself other than your core college doesn't help in this.
- Classrooms are fine but not as much as the other departments. One can go to library to study as well. Infrastructure is Okay. The campus is beautiful, pollution free and aside from all chaos
- If one wants to genuinely excel or pursue higher education in this field so he/she can join. Because most people clear gate from this dept.
Course Curriculum Overview
I was influenced by the college name and biotechnology seems to be easy comparing other branches. Curriculum was linient one can prepare for other exams as well simultaneously as there was not that much pressure. Teachers should learn good teaching method as most of them are not understoodable. Exams timings were doable for everyobe.
Fees and Financial Aid
Semester wise fee- 30000 / sem There are certain schemes for the reserved students for fee re imburshment untill unless their parents are not from govt. Background. One of my bachmate belonged to SC category got 90000 each year as scholarship which is quite good amount.
Campus Life
Josh sports event on February, spandan tech event on april, rasyan food fest on August, and Goonj cultural fest on june conducted each year. Yes there so many extracurricular activities going on in college like UTU sport event. Yes, there are many group formed like genesis in biotechnology, gafa in mechanical.
Admission
I applied for college of technology pantnagar but didn't get the seat itno that. So i came in this one. You have to apply for uttrakhand technical university counselling process in which you have apply and fill your preferences. According to your JEE mains marks you the college under this university. For biotechnology they conduct a exam for biology background students to pursue engineering. So mostly neet dropouts take admission.
Faculty
Faculties are approachable and answerable. They support students for studies. I liked Sumit sir in this dept. he was too calm and gentle. One of the faculties was hated by each student because of his behaviour and biased nature. He intentionally failed too many students. There are majorly two types of exams one is class test(CT) and other is semester exam. CT1 and CT2 are conducted after completing half of the syllabus and semester exams AKA external exams after 6 months( completing whole syllabus). Practical are also in between them. Exams are necessary for the academic and 60- 75 percentage attendance is necessary to sit on exam.
